Close to my home is hotel Albert. It looks very friendly and i think is reasonably priced. It is in the Pijp close to the centre of Amsterdam. about 40 - 80
The Amsterdam Botel seems to be okay. Near the Central Station a luxurious floating hotel located in the city centre. about 70 - 80 euro I think
But of course it depends what you think is reasonable.
Backpackers would choose Hansje Brinker. A hostel. No view, no big rooms, but clean beds. Address Kerkstraat 136 1017 GR AMSTERDAM

Amstel Botel: It's near the railway station, on a boat. It's big, safe and reasonable (at least 2 years ago)
be prepare though: a decent hotel in amsterdam (starting let say around 2 stars will set you back around 125 to 225 euro a night. The place is NOT cheap. If you want a cheap hotel, the IBIS by the airport is obe of the clean / cheap / no character / will do the trick kind of place (for 80 euro a night). they have shuttle to and from the airport (5 min) and the train goes from asmster dam to the airport or back around every 15 minutes.

there are many hotels near the station, try the COQ hotel, (serious) clean, a bit basic but reasonably central. No restaurant there though
