I'm going to Europe for a two week vacation, Amsterdam is one of my stops. I'm not a pot smoker but, when in Rome. I just want to add it to my "things I've done" list. Anyway, since i'm not a big smoker I'm affraid to smoke and venture out. I was wondering if I can buy it in a cafe and take it to my room?

1) you know wrong, or do not know. It is NOT legal, never has been, and probably will not be for the forseeable future. 2) in coffeeshops you can smoke pure weed (formally) without problem (for 18 and over). Minors are not allowed in these shops, even when accompanied by a 'responsible' adult. You are confusing the cafés and the coffeeshop - for the afternoon coffee or tea, one would visit a café, and for your daily dose of drugs, you`d end up in a coffeeshop. So, no worries there - if you want a coffee during your walk, go to a café, and enjoy it while the baby is safe and sound.

In theory it's allowed wherever it's allowed to smoke cigarettes, but it's an unwritten rule that you just don't do it because the smell is strong and you can bother others. So don't do it in regular bars, but do it in the coffee shop, or in your hotel room if smoking is allowed in the hotel. People tend not to mind when you smoke it out on the streets.

I believe it must be done at the bar. Just make sure you are close to your hotel and with people you trust and take it easy...no need to over do it the first time. Heck you may not even need to smoke just go in and get a good contact high.

If you want to smoke legally you have to go to a coffeeshop. They are everywhere you really won't search long and they're not for coffee. You're allowed to smoke inside the shop, you can't take it outside.

you can buy what you want in the coffee shop, you enter the bar and ak for the menu... Choose already pre rolled joints if you do not know how to roll it. afterward, you can smoke it in your hotel, most of them accept that - atlanta hotel in Rembrantsplein, kinghotel...
Avoid smoking outside, i am not sure it is really well accepted by the Dutch.

For your information:
- The pot smoking is only in the special pot bars, not in normal bars.
- In many places people don't like you to do it, don't piss off them.
- In most hotels you are not allowed to smoke at all.

you can buy a small amount of drug for personal use and use it in your home. if you stay in a hotel or any other public accommodations, you should not be using drug there, so do it in a cafe (called coffee shop).
