Just hypothetically of course, what would be a good way for an American man to ask a Turkish woman to marry him? Let's assume, just for the question, that she and her family are open-minded enough to allow it. Would the traditional American act of getting on one knee and putting a ring on the left ring finger be appropriate? Is there a good Turkish custom to follow? Let's also assume that the woman is in her late 20's and has been married before, if that makes any difference... hypothetically.

Despite my coarse looks, I enjoy a few poems, too. Here's one:

A voice troubles my sleep some nights,
A shiver runs through me: "Where are you?"
I have been looking for him for years,
I'm besotted with that voice calling me.

(Geceleyin bir ses böler uykumu,
İçim ürpermeyle dolar, "Nerdesin?"
Arıyorum yıllar var ki ben onu,
Aşığıyım beni çağıran o sesin.)

Which is your favorite?

I want to travel Europe alone and want some information. I'm a noob to this and so far have established RailEurope would be a cheap way to get between countries - but I need to know what else I would need! For example, do you book all the hostels ect in advance or just turn up.

How does it all work basically?

Following up Leprechaun's question, I found the ultimate solution to all our problems. We are founding a party. Next government is ours! Here's the strategy:

For the next elections, we run a "popular" campaign, where we promise anything the population desires. As per political requirements, we donot have to realize our promises, so "sallamak serbest" (meaning you can pull projects out of... well, I'm getting dirtier and dirtier). After we grab the government, we straighten up and put to use every project that the voting population would disregard, like education, infrastructure, industrialization.

I suggest Yeehaa Party as a name.

Please suggest alternative party names and flying promises.

I promise university diploma to every student, heaven to Muslims and Christians (I heard Jews don't believe in paradise, I'm not sure if it is true), nirvana to buddhists, reincarnation as a rich human for Hindus and such.

As this is a virtual political formation, everybody is welcome

There are so many actors, musicians, artists that are Greek and Turkish collaborating on projects, there are marriages between two nations, and the only thing seems to be past that keeps us apart. Do you think past can be the past, since we the new generation are the future's hope for peace and understanding?

I know there is no actual answer, so I'm just asking for your opinion. I dream of the day I can go to Europe, and being from the southern part of the US, kindness and hospitality is something I hold as a top priority. I'm planning a dream vacation, and getting to know the locals while on my trip is a crucial part of my possible enjoyment. I'd hate to go somewhere where people are distant and cold, even if its the most beautiful place on earth.

So, what country in Europe (in your opinion, of course) has the friendliest and most hospitable people?

Those of you who are Greeks, will know what I'm talking about!
So, what do you think about the book, with elections coming up and all? Do you think it's should have really bocome a "national issue"? Do you think it should have affected us all so much? Do you think it's worth bringing down a government? I will please ask you all to be civilised. We can all voice our opinion in a passionate way whithout becoming vulgar!
