im going to amsterdam in december and wanted to know if theres any good cafes with good quality stock that i should know about.

In all cafe's in Amsterdam you get good beer, (mostly Heineken or Amstel but there are some others too,) coffee, liquor, soft drinks and sometimes you can buy cigarettes too.
If you want other things to smoke, go to a coffee shop, where they do sell coffee too and some additions to tobacco.
(I am told the ones in the smaller streets are less touristy, but as I do not use their stock I do not know out of personal experience.)

The quality is pretty much the same, no matter which coffee shop you go to. I'd avoid the tourist traps like the Bulldog; just look for the marijuana leaf outside, and you'll find friendly folks inside to help you choose your product.
There are several small shops just off the Leidseplein.

From what I've heard they have the "tourist" section with bumped up prices and crowded cafes and they have the "locals" section where the people who go there actually live in the city. When you go there don't be afraid to ask around and you'll find the right spot.

THE best two shops in A'dam.
The Bluebird is right down the street from Rembrandts house
Dampkrig is somwhere around the Puma Store.

Barney's Breakfast Bar - run by an Irishman, serves full breakfast, and beware of falling off your stool, or going to sleep in the bog with your trousers down if you try the house speciality !!
