Help me to find my way?

I'm new in this section. I was on Yahoo Answers for a while and I have just noticed that there was a Turkey section.
So Hi to everyone and I'm asking my first question:

Why are there so many provocative questions and answers in this section? I have clicked on the link where it says Turkey and I found myself like: "Armenian Genocide Is A Lie!" , "You're a Provocateur"! Oh my God What the hell is going on to those people these days?

And also my other question is a bit personal:
This is my first year in Turkey. I grew up in the United Kingdom and after I have graduated from High School (Baccalaureate Diploma at language) I have moved to Istanbul with my parents. Now I don't know Turkey much, except for the places I've visit in the summer before. I don't know what to do and where to start to my life here. I'm home all the day can't find anything to do. (I don't mean Turkey is boring Just I don't know how to have fun)

Hi! My family is planning to travel to Lourdes and Barcelona.
Because we are not familiar with Europe, i have several questions.
a) Are there any special customs we should observe? (For eg. Thais do not like someone to pat the heads of their children). We heard that there it is very hot in Barcelona now. Would the locals be offended if we wear shorts in public?

b) We would like to travel to Barcelona from Lourdes. What is the most convenient way to travel to Barcelona from Lourdes? I did some research and the words "renfe" and "eurarail" kept coming up. Are they the same train service? How long does it take to travel to Barcelona from Lourdes?

c) As we are Asian, we do not speak much french and little or no spanish. While we are struggling to learn the basic words, i was wondering if we would face much difficulty (for eg, during the purchase of train tickets or reading the train schedule)

Thanks in advance for all the help!

I've learned english at school, and also when I travelled several times in UK.
I speak also a correct spanish ( school and travels in spanish speaking countries)
And of course I speak french because I grew up in France, and turkish because I am a Turk.
The language I know the best is not turkish, in fact it's french ( yes I know that can seem to be a little weird )

I've noticed that some of you have a perfect english ( especially Anlarm,Ipek,Bird, BosphorousBabe , Earthling...)
Many people who live abroad, as me, can speak even better a foreign language than their original language...

I just went to my bathroom, whose wall is facing outside, and especially west, where the sun was all afternoon. Frankly, the wall was emitting warmth, I can't describe how hot it was. The shampoo etc. where all warm, like the soup we eat in winter or sth. Is this luxury or what?
Too bad tomorrow the... spa will stop!

Hi

I'm thinking of going to Paphos in November, hopefully the first week. Has anyone been at that time? I'd like to know whether it will be warm or not.

Also, how is the nightlife at that time of year? I know there is a rock bar called TC's, but is that the only one? Not really into the usual dance and RnB and would like somewhere I won't feel out of place!

Thanks

Hello.
I'm planning to go to the Canary Island, in October.
Do you have any idea regarding the food prices?
I'm living in Paris.
I's better to take a All-Inclusive package or to eat right there.
Thanks.

I've read in the newspaper today that, according to a poll made in England, people think women shouldn't wear bikinis after the age 48. I thought this interesting. What's the latest bikini-wearing age for Turkish women, do you think?

We will be there in October 18th - 28th. We are in our mid-twenties, and would like to do a variety of things. I am into the breweries, festivals, and the "coffee shops" in Amsterdam... and my wife would like to visit some historical museums during the day. Do you have any suggestions on how we can divide our 9 nights there? Since we are younger we both would like be active, drink lots of beer, and enjoy the nightlife a little. I know of lots of fun things to do in Amsterdam (Heinekin brewery!!!), but am more looking for advice for Dusseldorf and Brussels. I would like to know if there is enough to do there for 3 days/nights a piece or if we should do four to five in Amsterdam and only do two in Dusseldorf and Brussels. Are there any festivals going on anywhere during our visit???

I wish to raise two points:

i) Whereas 50% of the 42,533,041 registered voters in Turkey were women, less than 10% of the deputies will be females (50/550).

ii) This will be the highest percentage in the history of the Turkish republic.

Your thoughts on this?

Looking at either lonely planet's Norway guide (obviously), or lonely planet's Scandinavian Europe guide.

The latter is only 100 pages longer yet covers several countries, yet would it be better for the north of Norway?

Any advice appreciated,
