Looking at either lonely planet's Norway guide (obviously), or lonely planet's Scandinavian Europe guide.

The latter is only 100 pages longer yet covers several countries, yet would it be better for the north of Norway?

Any advice appreciated,
Matt

Knowing the Lonely Planet guides, but not the Scandinavian, nor the Norwegian, I would only buy the one for the countries where I plan to go this year and the next.
The smaller the area, the more info on the places you will get.
In the Norway guide the Tromso chapter is likely to be twice as long as in the Scandinavian one.
But that is general rules, maybe for some reason in this case it is different.

And if you do plan to travel Sweden and Finland it is useful to buy the bigger one.

i called into Tromso as the war ended the German troops were still guarding the barracks and at 3 am we were walking the streets in daylight and it seemed strange to see folk walking their dogs etc//however it was well behind the times then but i understand its called now Paris of the north. I did see the Tirpits upside down and thought then not many people will ever see a sight like that//just print in Tromso and you should get what you want to know
