Help me to find my way?
I'm new in this section. I was on Yahoo Answers for a while and I have just noticed that there was a Turkey section.
So Hi to everyone and I'm asking my first question:
Why are there so many provocative questions and answers in this section? I have clicked on the link where it says Turkey and I found myself like: "Armenian Genocide Is A Lie!" , "You're a Provocateur"! Oh my God What the hell is going on to those people these days?
And also my other question is a bit personal:
This is my first year in Turkey. I grew up in the United Kingdom and after I have graduated from High School (Baccalaureate Diploma at language) I have moved to Istanbul with my parents. Now I don't know Turkey much, except for the places I've visit in the summer before. I don't know what to do and where to start to my life here. I'm home all the day can't find anything to do. (I don't mean Turkey is boring Just I don't know how to have fun)

So as you can guess I have no friends or anything. In England I used to ride a horse and play softball and I also am into photography (35mm) can you suggest anything to me? Like Do You know any clubs in Istanbul that I can be a member and ride a horse. Thank you...

Welcome. These days it is so en vogue to provoke Turks. We just use provokers to have fun. Ignore them.
For your hobbies, check the links below:
http://www.istanbulbinicilik.com/
http://www.atkolik.com/
or you may do a search with "atlı spor kulübü".
http://www.ifsak.org/anasayfa.php
for photography.
Don't worry, once you start going out more often, you will find many friends here, too.

Welcome to the Turkish Section!!! :-) There are many provocative questions here, but you get used to ignoring them or answering them as you please. There are people on here that just like to stir up trouble, so you just have to watch out for them. (They're normally the ones that swear a lot and bring up controversial issues everyday). I hope Turkey turns out well for you. I think you'll pick up the lifestyle in no time. Sometimes when I'm bored here in Antalya, I think to myself, "What am I doing just sitting around here, when I can be out and about in the city having fun." Just walking around the city will really help you know the environment I think. Have a great day!

Don't worry about the virtual wars in here. In time you will get used to it - you may even get to like it :)
Don't worry , you will make friends in no time.
I was searching the internet the other day for my dad who is an amateur- and sometimes professional - photographer to and came across to this link: http://www.fototrek.com/ It seems to have excellent courses and you may get to improove your photography as well as making new friends .
We are here, so dont feel lonely, anythime you need something just ask us :)
I am sure in time you will get to make friends among us too and maybe get a chance to meet with them- especially the ones living in Ä°stanbul.

Turkish people are friendly. Though I don't know the best way to make friends for an English girl. Your parents might have some Turkish friends with children. Why don't you ask your parents to introduce you to some of their friends??
Or, I can advise you to make contact with affable and friendly people in the forum. (i.e. ipek k, Bosphorus Turkey..)
