I am sending my dad to visit his sister in Australia (Nr Brisbane) as his 60th bday prezzie. His bday is September so will give him ticket then, so I wanted to know how long (max) it would take to get his passport and visa sorted - as I cannot think of a way of getting him a passport beforehand - I wanted him to go in November. Would this be pushing it?

I just read that back - did it make sense to you? :)

This is for my few friends (India), who got a chance to work in New Zealand. They got the chance through an engineer working in a Construction Company in New Zealand. He told them there are 900 different vacancies in his company, with or without educational qualifications. Is it possible to get a job in New Zealand without any educational qualification? He said they would get group work visa for all 900 persons. Is that possible? He collected around $1023 from each person as visa processing and agent charges. He also told them he wants another $2273 from each person for flight ticket from India to New Zealand. Is this the right way to recruit people to New Zealand? Pls help my friends.

I'm a backpacker currently working in Melbourne and I would very much like to take a trip down to Tasmania for a week before moving up to Sydney.I've heard loads of great things about Tasmania, most of the backpackers I met just can't stop raving about it.(got me all psyched about the trip all the more) But, here comes the problem, I couldn't quite make up my mind on how I should get there, I know there are basically two options, either go take the ferry or catch a flight.which cost pretty much the same. I am the kind of person who enjoys making friends while travelling but the ferry rides takes way too long,I don't wannna get off the ferry feeling sick and sore all over, but on the other hand,it's a better way for me to meet and chat with other travellers.I'm in a dilemma now and would appreciate any suggestions from anyone, preferably backpackers who is touring in Australia.Cheers:-)
