I'm studying neurology here in the Netherlands and I'm really going to live in Japan. My mother, who works for Sanyo, went to Japan last year, she became good associates with the Japanese, she told them about my study and intelligence and the Japanese are considering to be my sponsor!

But I don't know what will happen next, with the university and stuff. I want to study there because I like the country and because of the fact that Europe is the most boring place in the world! So, could you guys please name some universities there in Tokyo (area) and other important things that I have to do to become a Japanese citizen?

My biggest problem unfortunately is the language. I can understand five words or something, that's all! And if it comes to reading... Is there maybe a university where they use English? And where they teach neurology?

Thanks in advance, please tell everything you know!

For some time now, I've planning on travelling to Kamakura, Japan - it has prompted me to learn the language (going quite well, as of now), and get a feel for some of Japan's culture through friends and other various things. I probably have about three to four more years to go before I visit, but good things come to those who wait, no?

So, I was wondering about Kamakura. What is the weather like during different parts of the year? Does it snow (I figure no, since it's heading south and near the coast, but it doesn't hurt to ask)? Also, during what seasons is the city most empty?

I don't plan on travelling during any of Japan's holidays (not the busy ones, anyways), so if there are any other spots one might recommend when travelling across Japan (planning on staying a month or so), please feel free to enlighten me!

Thanks for the assistance.

I have been to the below website and can find prices for tickets and routes, but no schedules.

How many trains run this route per day and how long does it take?

Should I book these tickets in advance and can I buy the day of?

Also, what is the difference between "Hikari and Kodama trains" and "Nozomi trains"? They both seem to go from Hakata to Tokoyo for about the same price.

I want to know if there are any good places in Tokyo that play alternative/rock/80's, etc. music you can dance too. Like: David Bowie, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs, Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, The Pixies, The Clash, etc.
Somewhere that isn't just R&B, House, Trance, or Hip Hop. thanks.

I'll be in Tokyo soon and I just started collecting "urban vinyl" figures like Qee, Gloomy Bear and Be@rbrick. Where can I buy (at a decent price) items such as this? Please be as specific as possible, with store name and address, if possible.... and I've already been to Kiddyland :-)

When we arrive at their house, we'll be taking off our shoes. Will we be taking off my socks as well and walk barefoot? We'll be staying for a couple of days. We'll be bringing slippers with us, can we wear them walking around the house? We don't want to offend our hosts. By the way, I will be travelling first week of August. What's the weather like? Is it in bad taste to be walking around Tokyo and the neighborhood in my sandals? My wife is also confused whether to wear slip on sandals with open toes or is closed toe shoes a must? When is the right time to give presents to our hosts? Right when we arrive or after settling down like during dinner? We're going to Disneyland as well. We'd like to be comfortable, can we wear short pants?
