I want to know if there are any good places in Tokyo that play alternative/rock/80's, etc. music you can dance too. Like: David Bowie, The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, Blur, Kaiser Chiefs, Rolling Stones, Duran Duran, The Pixies, The Clash, etc.
Somewhere that isn't just R&B, House, Trance, or Hip Hop. thanks.

♡In case you can't find any~Please take a look at the CyberJapan Tokyo Club Guide and see if something looks good to you:
http://www.cyberjapan.tv/contents/tokyoclubguide/area_e.html
Also, check out The Metropolis Club Listing:
http://metropolis.japantoday.com/tokyo/recent/listings.asp#clubbing
Unfortunately many of the clubs are R&B, House, Trance... SORRY about that!
Don't be afraid to try a few different types of clubs, you might be surprsied and really have a great time.
*I'm sure you'll get a few great answers here.
Hope this helps!♡

Yes, I've been to an eighties bar in Tokyo during the nineties. Places come and go though so I can't tell you exactly where to go nowadays. If I wanted to find a joint that played a certain genre of music in Japan I would go to a "stand-bar"/"shot bar"/Kirin City etc. in an entertainment area and buy a beer for 500 yen and then chat up the bar man and locals.

I've been to everything from a Deadhead joint to a Tango bar in Japan so there is something for every taste. It doesn't have to be Shinjuku or Roppongi, even unfashionable parts of Tokyo and small cities have a good variety of larger watering holes and iconic hole in the wall places.

Someone is likely to have some local knowledge. The bartenders usually know what's on offer in their own neck of the woods. The man behind the bar may own the place and have been there for the last 20 years. If no one in the place knows anything the staff/clientele may actually start calling people in the know on your behalf. Brian Ferry/Roxy Music is big in Japan, so if he's to your taste you are in luck.

There are loads, though not as many as there were in the 'Britpop' years and late 90s.

Try monthly club nights like 'Pop iT!' at Club Acid, Shinjuku (last Saturday of the month), Club Heaven at Bar Drop, Kichijoji (second Saturday), or Getting Better at Club Que, Shimokitazawa (last Friday).

Bar Drop has lots of indie nights - some cater for more US-rock stuff, some more to UK-ish neo-acoustic guitar pop.

Basically, for more info just search those names on the 'net, or search 'tokyo+indie+club' and see what happens !

You know I wanted the same thing while I was there and never found one. I'm sure there are bars that play 80's alternative though. I guess go search for live houses / Bars.

Maybe you'll find one in the Yokohama area.
My friend owns a live house in Yokohama Kannai station area and he was telling me that alot of live house / bars were popping up in Yokohama the last few years that it was hard for him to make money.
Sorry I don't have solid advice for you.
