Do the people that work within the secure area of airports have special screening? Seems like good jobs for terrorists to apply for. Waitress, barber, computer sales, book sales, etc etc.
Do they have to go through screening every time they go to work? Very scary.

Why are there no nail salons at airports? It seems like it would be a great idea to have them - especially since people are being told to arrive at least 3 hours prior to their flights & passengers have to now take their shoes off during the security checks.

Those metal detectors can't detect the type of explosives hidden in footwear. Doesn't make any sense to me.

They are such a nuisance. Of course, an exception can be made for diaper bags and such for the babies. And regular handbags/purses. Almost anything you will need you can carry in those.

I frequently fly for my job. This past week I had to endure the longest wait for a plane to board (it was only a 737, not a big one) because not just three or four people, but at least 10 brought luggage aboard as a carry on.

The flight crew went beyond all expectation of service to acommodate these customers, including giving some passengers garbage bags so they could remove clothing reducing the bulk of their luggage.

I have a medium sized roll on, just beyond the dimensions accepted as a carry on, and I always check it because the one time I didn't they wouldn't board me with it. Some of these people had bags that were small suitcases and they tried to shove it into the overhead bins.

The airlines all have regs for the maximum carryon size permitted. Why don't they enforce them uniformly? Why do I always follow the rules like a schoolgirl afraid to get in trouble? And don't the people who break those rules realize just how rude they are by inconveniencing others?

I don't mean to be racist or anything and i don't really want to go back to enforce an apartheid regime, but in the current terror threat, should all muslims be boarded on separate planes to wherever they're going?

Just like the big air parachute used to stop the space shuttle. If such a parachute is there then the pilots in emergency can just shut off his engine decrease his speed and hang out in the air and land slowly on the ground. Passenger seats can be designed with full body harness and shock absorbers. I think it will be expensive but it will save a lot of lives.

I work in Saudi Arabia since 13 years and a frequent flyer. I have used mostly Saudi Air. This vacation I took Gulf air due to availability. When onward journey, it was transit in Muscat and then to Madras. The originating flight from Bahrain was delayed and flight to Madras from Muscat departed. We were 43 passengers and all made to stay in Muscat for >26 hrs. We gathered information that this has happened at least 3 times in July. Such blant disregard to passengers' time?

On the return journey, the airline allowed only 25 Kgs baggage whereas in the onward journey they allowed 40 Kgs. I paid for excess baggage by scrapping all over my wallet. The air line people rudely informed me to travel in another day after arranging the money. Why this double standards of bagggage allowance?

I sail on a little sailboat, so I'm told flying is smoother.

I'm fifteen and never flew before. There is a big school trip next year that requires flying, so I'm flying from NY to BOS on a JetBlue E190 to ease my nervousness associated with flying. Any suggestions? Does music help?

Oh, and a realivte told me that due to the new security procedures the lines in PHL are hurrendous. How are they at JFK at 7 AM?

I'm American flying home in a week from the UK....Birmingham Airport, to Frankfurt ,to USA...on a United Flight. I know all the security measures being used in the UK but what about Germany? What can I expect there? Are they being as vigilant as in the UK? I'm hoping so. I have watched the news reports non-stop but not much is mentioned about other European Airports.....I would appreciate any input about this.
Thanks
