I'm American flying home in a week from the UK....Birmingham Airport, to Frankfurt ,to USA...on a United Flight. I know all the security measures being used in the UK but what about Germany? What can I expect there? Are they being as vigilant as in the UK? I'm hoping so. I have watched the news reports non-stop but not much is mentioned about other European Airports.....I would appreciate any input about this.

German airports have traditionally had higher security than U.S. or U.K. airports, so don't expect it to be a breeze. The U.S. and U.K. have really heightened security measures, but at this time the Germans haven't tightened theirs up. So you can expect about the same level of security in Germany, perhaps a little less, than what you'll see in the U.S. and the U.K.

You will have to check in at B-ham as per the new rules, but you wont see your bags again until USA, so Frankfurt security wont affect you... I'm sure they are being just a vigilant with people who DO check in there....

I think the threat was specifically against UK flights, so probably German airports won`t be having the same amount of security, call them and ask them, that would be best

There is no problem to fly from Germany. You can fly from Frankfort. There would certainly the security but not as crazy as UK.

check with your airline. I should hope everyone has learnt from this. Let's hope and pray for a peaceful settlement in the Middle East. there's an email circulating asking ppl to sign up for peace.

At the moment its Universal security, so I shouldnt worry too much,anyway put all your stuff in the hold and no problems,dont carry drinks onboard.

All you have to do is put all of your junk in the checked luggage and eliminate all problems
