They are such a nuisance. Of course, an exception can be made for diaper bags and such for the babies. And regular handbags/purses. Almost anything you will need you can carry in those.

No. I don't think that that would be a good thing to do, considering that peoples luggage gets stolen and sometimes misplaced for days at a time.

The carry on should only consist of emergency stuff like extra clothes or cosmetic supplies like a toothbrush and stuff like that in case of emergency. I went to Jamaica several months ago and my bag with all of my unmentionables was not there when I got there, so I was in that hot little airport for abour 3 hours before they told me anything. I had to go to my destination which was 1and a half hours away and then turn back around and go back to get it after they called me and told me they found it. Luckily, like a real traveler, I had extra unmentionables in my carry on as well as another change of clothes.

If they are being cautious of certain things, then they should make changes to what can be in a carry on bag. It would help them and the passengers.

I think that pretty soon thats what it will come down to-----no more carry-on luggage. This might not be such a bad idea since ppl are getting smarter and smarter when it comes to terrorist attacks. Although some will hate it b/c they dont like change, it might be the difference between life and death!

It would be very hard for some people, because some idiots are packrats and feel the need for everything to be with them, some people get away with as many as 5 carry ons, it is insane. People need there, medicine, and like you said the diaper bags. Security lines would go so much faster! They take forever in the winter regarless, because of all the extra clothing people wear. I think its a great idea.

What I hate about carry-ons is that people won't use the bins over their own seats. When I get to my seat, the overhead rack is always jammed full with somebody else's stuff. It makes me want to pull it out and throw it in the aisle.

No my husband is a semi-invalid and I need lots of things to keep him comfortable on a long flight. I, also, need books and such to keep me occupied.

Yeah, but then let's say you want to bring a gift to someone or you've bought/brought something valuable or fragile. I don't see what the big deal is anyway. They go above our heads, so it's not like it's going to save room around our seats if we get rid of them.
