Why cant aircraft fly directly from the west coast of Canada or the US to Asia or to the east? Why do all aircraft always fly the long way from the east around the world?

I am going to mexico(oaxaca)in Febuary. I need to know how much it will cost to take a 2001 car,legally.How much for food for a month for me and 4 small kids. I dont need a hotel as I will be staying with family. What about gas? is it the same price as the states?

For two weeks, there are no restrictions on where you can go or stay, and getting off work is NOT a problem, nor is paying your bills when you get back.....LOL Ok, where would you go and why? Is there anything in particular you'd like to do while you're there? You can take one person, who would it be? (Oh, don't say something silly like you want to go to Antartica but you want to stay in a 4 star hotel!)
