I am going to mexico(oaxaca)in Febuary. I need to know how much it will cost to take a 2001 car,legally.How much for food for a month for me and 4 small kids. I dont need a hotel as I will be staying with family. What about gas? is it the same price as the states?

Insurance is expensive ($250 a year - don´t go with out it)(even a few months costs). Registering the car is about $45us. Gas is about $2.30us for regular (magna). Food is cheap
Much easier to fly or take the bus. Oaxaca (the city) is a 4 day drive from the border and you have to plan and stay over in both directions
