I am 47 and I have no clue of swimming, I literally can't swim.
Where can I get to learn swimming? I can not pay a lot of money to learn it.

I want to prepare for a triathlon. If you have any advice on preparing for the swimming portion would be helpful (or any of the events).Swimming is my weakest of the three events. I checked and it sounds like they usually swim anywhere between 500-1500 meters.

I've been getting headaches while swimming anything longer than a quarter mile. I thought it was my cap, ditched it and now think it may be the goggles. The funny thing is when I do sprints I don't get it even though I leave the goggles on the whole time. I just ordered seal goggles thinking the smaller ones may be putting pressure on my sinuses. And they are NOT too tight, trust me.

Hey I just turned 25 and I'm going on a cruise to the Bahamas and would really like to go scuba diving.

I've been swimming before both with and without ear plugs (I know bad me), but when scuba diving you are not allowed to wear ear plugs since the pressure has to equalize.

So I was wondering what might would or could happen if I went anyway without putting plugs in.

Thanks for the info and I would really appreciate it if you could put a reference link with your answer if possible since its a health question.

thanks again,
Cerberus

I was wondering if a rash suit would keep a child warm in cool (not cold) water as opposed to buying a wet-suit?

My dtrs take swim class at the YMCA. They tie noodles around their waste and have them swim in the deep end by them self. My dtr is 6. The instructor was not paying attention to all of the students and her back was toward my dtr and the noodle slipped off of her and she could not keep herself up out of the water. I had to jump in to save her. I want to do something about this situation because it was neglegence on their part, but I am unsure what to do. Please help.

I need to be able to swim 200 meters (about 200 yards) in 6 minutes. I can currently swim 75 meters in about 1 1/2 minutes. I need to be able to do this by June 8th. So that's a little over 2 weeks. I'm in pretty good physical and cardiovascular shape. I just need to learn to swim efficiently.

My family has recently told me that I need to get more into swimming if I would like to continue with it. They want me to do some dry-land training in addition to regular swimming.
I go to swim practice twice a week for 1-2 hours each time, (ugh, I know, that's nothing, but it's a long way away)
but we do simple things like 25's on 15 sec rest!!! I really want to break 30 on my 50 free sometime soon!!
Can someone please give me a workout that relies heavily on dry-land with 2 or 3 swim practices a week? Also, the practices are suppposed to be getting harder in a week or so. And I can spend extra time in the pool besides practice, usually from 1/2 to 2 hours.
One more thing: I don't have any free weights to work with, so most dry-land tactics need to be using body weight, although if that's too hard, give me the free weights.
Thank you sooo much!
