Depending on your location, and your local ordinances they may. But if they don't, call your local water company and ask them if they will (they own the fire hydrant, not the fire dept). If the answer is still no you may have no choice but to use your outside spigot. But don't forget to call the water company after you do that so they can adjust the sewer(if applicable)off since that water used isn't going into the sewer. Good luck!

Mine will. They are volunteer and for a donation (they suggest $20) they will fill it. However, the water comes from local lakes and resevoirs so it is brackish, brown and comes with free branches and dirt! After doing that once we didn't do it again haha...
The garden hose is your best bet if you have a well. If you have city water apparently you can call the water people and tell them what you are doing and you can get some kind of price deal because of the volume. I don't know much about that because we have well water but it sounds like a good deal if you have to pay for water in the first place.
Good luck!

If the Fire Dept. ever did fill up a pool I hope they charge a huge price. I would hope their saving the water and their energy on saving a home and possibly a life. Fill it yourself or do a rain dance and maybe you'll get a big downpour of rain.

Are you crazy? The fire department isn't there to fill up a swimming pool.

Some rural fire depts. will for a donation, but the water is usually dirty because they get water where they can in emergencies (ponds, rivers, ect.) You will come out cheaper by far and have ALOT LESS WORK if you buy it from a pool water supplier.

If you work for the fire department or knew someone that did, they probably would do it for you. If you are not affiliated with them in any way, they likely will not.
Besides, I'd rather have them sitting back relaxing making some 5 alarm chili (waiting for a fire to develop) than racing around to different houses filling up pools.
Get off your lazy but and do it yourself.

1. know how big your swimming pool is- it is usually 10000 to 20000 gallon 2. call your water company and tell them u will fill ur pool-they will not charge the sewer charge on the use. u save on average $3 per 1000 gallon on sewer 3. average cost per gallon of water: depends on where you live-$2-$4 per 1000 gallon

That depends on the department in your area. Some will with a "donation" to the department. All it takes is a phone call to figure it out. GOOD LUCK!
