Does Gortex or any other modern lightweight material actually remain waterproof and keep you dry even after several hours in the pouring rain?

Does Gortex loose it's ability to repel water after it ages?

I live in a commercial fishing town and I've noticed all the professional fishermen still wear the old-fashioned rubber rain suits. Makes me wonder(?).

I am considering getting a M16 from either JG or ECHO 1. I have heard that JG and ECHO1 are identical except that ECHO1s have better gears and less FPS and JGs have crappy gears and high FPS. I want a more durable and long lasting gun, but the ECHO1 is $35 more than the JG. Is is worth it?

I have a Winchester Defender 1200 that has not been touched for firing or cleaning or anything else for more than 15 years. It's been lying under the bed during all those years.

What can I do to make it safely usable again?

Please look at this link and tell me if this gun would be an ok gun just to have around the house for a woman who wants to feel a little safer while at home alone. I cannot pay much money. This gun is very inexpensive, but I have no idea if it's any good. Can I please get some advice. Thank you!:

This link will take you to a report on the idiocracy and hypocracy that these so-called animal lovers believe in.
The link gives you sources and such, but if you just want to read the article.....

As we reported last year, Congressman Duncan Hunter (R-CA) helped to enact an NRA-backed law to save the 1100 Roosevelt Elk and Kaibab Mule Deer on Santa Rosa Island from court-ordered extermination. Congresswoman Lois Capps (D-CA) and Senators Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Barbara Boxer (D-CA) were outraged. It was clear that they were not going to give up until every elk and mule deer on the island had been destroyed.

This week, Senator Feinstein succeeded in inserting a provision into the Omnibus Appropriations Bill that repeals this animal-saving law. This action, passed in the dark of night, reinstates the extermination order that must be carried out by 2011. This is a terrible blow to wildlife conservation in America.

I just bought a S&W 500 and am looking for a good holster for it. These two holsters are virtually identical except that one is an "across-the-chest" holster and the other is a vertical shoulder holster.

Is it true some people used to dip their bullets in Cynide? Would it actually make a difference?

2007-12-29 01:45:17 · 17 answers · asked by Anonymous in Hunting

right the title says it all..

i know of lots of kind of bullets.. but little about what they are good for.

halow (is that even the right word) points kind of explod in the target right??

FMJ's are good for punching through things if i remember right.... on a side note... how can you tell if a bullet is FMJ or not??

but there are lots of other kinds of bullets out there... i was just woundering what they all do.

I haven't gone camping since I was about 12, so I have absoultely no camping gear, unless you count my princess sleeping bag that will probably go to my waist.

He has no camping gear either, because he just moved out and everything he had was his parents.

So we're going shopping for all new stuff, stuff thats really strong and durable so they will last for a long long time. Price isn't important to us at all..

If you have any camping gear that you absolutely love, give us a link to the store name.

Most likely we'll be shoppping at target/walmart/academy

We need a checklist to make sure we don't forget anything, because once we go, we're going for a week, and were not coming back for anything. And we're camping in the middle of now where, so we can't go buy anything.

Anything helps, we don't mind long lists!

Thank you very much for your time!

Me and my bf are going camping for the first time together.

I haven't gone camping in years, so i don't have anything I need for it, and neither does he.

So we need to go out and buy brand new stuff.

Where we're camping, there are not toilets/showers/campers/cabins/etc. The only thing they have is a small crick, and a water pump that has cold water. It's about a 19 hour drive from civilization, so we can't go back for anything.

I need help creating a checklist of must haves! Don't worry about the price, we want quality items that will last for years to come.

What could really help is if you find a site with the item itself (ex: if you went camping, and really liked an item, then find it and post a link/pic of it)

Thank you very much!

I'm getting a Remington 700 CDL (http://www.remington.com/products/firearms/centerfire_rifles/model_700/model_700_CDL_specs.asp)
I live in Mississippi, and want to use it for the usual (whitetail deer, etc.) but i also want a cartridge that i could use elsewhere. Example if i ever want to go out west and shoot big horn sheep, or elk, or maybe even bear i want to know what cartridge would work for all this. I was thinking 30-06 because i know that is a good one and works well. i am new to all these 7mm and everything, so im asking what cartridge you think. See the link i put up there to show what cartridges they offer for the rifle. thanks

Someone I know is getting their first handgun, mainly for concealed carry. I know quite a bit about guns, however, my friend is fairly new to the industry. He wants a good, reliable, semi-automatic handgun for concealed carry that is under $400.00 dollars. Therefore, I recommended the Ruger P95 9mm pistol. He loves the Colt Government .45, Glock 22/23, and a couple of the Sigs. He has never been around Rugers and they are around his price range. Would you recommend the Ruger P95, chambered for 9x19mm Luger ammunition?

Thanks for your help.

Is the Remington sps symmetrical? Whats the difference between the left and right hand 700 models if any besides for the bolt location. Because if they gun is the same on the left and right side, and just the bolt is on the right for right hand models I dont mind that at all.

well i looks like im not getting a deer this season because of my truck ****ting the bed these last couple of weeks and my work, muzzleloader ends the 31.

im so frustrated i feel like a failure and its not like i wasnt patient i would sit on stand for 6 hours in 25dg weather, i never shot a a sound in the bushes,i tryed several different stands that i set up and i hunted as much as i could.

i have been doing a lot of small game hunting since i was little and im now just getting into big game hunting these last couple of years, i miss how small game was so fun and if you missed a rabbit you just shrugged it off. i love hunting and killing is not necceary for me to have a good time but to my so called " friends" need to kill. they like making fun of me for not getting a deer and i feel like **** all i wanted is 1 doe and to eat sweet venison. im sorry to rant guys but i need some people to talk to.
