Get a live trap and bait it with dried corn or peanut butter. A humane live trap simply allows the critter to enter, when it trips the mechanism, the door closes behind it, safely and humanely trapping the critter which will allow you to relocate it without the need of killing it.

Depends on what your intentions are. When I was a kid I could get the squirrels at my Grandmothers place to eat from my hand by feeding them every day.
I wouldn't recomend grabbing them by hand though.
a no frills squirrel trap would be an aquarium, or cage with a lid and some bait. attach a string to a stick and prop the lid up with that. Pull the string and the lid slams down. This is assuming you have time and don't mind watching your own trap. Otherwise go to farmers supply type store and buy a humane trap of some kind.
I trapped a lot of gophers and other small rodents as a kid for my grandma. It is easy. however I wasn't so much into the humane thing at the time.

The Hav-A-Hart traps are excellent. I don't use peanut butter because it will get moldy and rancid. Bird seed is quite effective. And putting the traps on the tops of fences and walls (where you often see squirrels running) is most effective. Be sure to put a brick on top, or otherwise secure the trap, as they can knock it around when they're inside and can sometimes flip the trap over and escape.
