Would a .338 caliber be overkill.

I dont know this is true but i have read as an answer on here that it is bad to use rifled slugs in a fully rifled barrel. the guy said "read your instruction manual it will say "NOT TO USE REGULAR SLUGS IN A RIFLED BARREL" a slug will defect the rifled grooves in the barrel and sooner or later you will need to replace you barrel." is this true? i only use sabboted slugs in my fully rifled barrel but i would just like to know. thank you.

am told that you cant take down nothing bigger then a rabbit with this .22 calber some people even argue that a 22 wont travel more then a block ...

Me and my family have been hunting with a 22 for years i my self killed a 90 pound pig shot to the timple .

I know two family members that died from a 22 round one was shot in the head the onther one in the chest both were over 160 pounds

am i wrong? i thing a well placed round in the right place will take down a larger animal

I'm going hunting with my husband in a couple of weeks. He says that when him and his dad go hunting they usually sit in some hut and wait till a feeder goes off, the deer come to the feeder expecting some tasty food and instead they shoot the deer. Is it just me or is that cheating?

My husband compares it to fishing, saying he is going "Deer Fishing" I think he is a retard. What are your thoughts?

I was just wondering if anybody has had any experiences with the 7mm-08. I am getting one rifle for Christmas and trying to pick the best caliber. I narrowed down the rifle to a NEF Handi-Rifle. I could get a Remington 700 but I just want a single-shot. I figured I could get a nice scope with the money I saved.

Caliber wise, it's between .243, .270, 7mm-08, .30-30, .308, .30-06, and .35 Remington (if that caliber is avaliable, I'm not sure).

Thanks in advance for any input!

I drive a car and my fiance drive's an SUV. so when I go deer hunting i want to take her vehicle so i have something to haul the deer to the check station and the processer in. but no we can't get ANY blood in her SUV heaven forbid. so i asked her if i could find a liner for the trunk if i could start using that instead of always asking a buddy to borrow his truck or call them to come pick it up for me. she said yes but there can't be any chance of getting blood on the carpet of sides(the blood would wipe right off the sides and there isn't much blood left at that point anyway) but whatever so my question is does anyone know where i can get a rubber liner with high sides. all the liners i've seen have short sides and nothing at the tailgate so the blood could just run off the end there. so yeah help a quy out if you can.oh and she bought the truck before we started dating so if i had bought it i would be using it and getting blood everywhere lol. and it's a chevy trailblazer by the way

I'm thinking of buying a pump-action 12 gauge for home defense, and was curious about something. I know that loaded revolvers have all springs at rest except when fired, and I was wondering if all parts/springs are at rest in a pump action shotgun when stored loaded (but without a shell chambered) as well?

My side-by-side, for example, has internal hammers. Therefore, the triggers are "******" at all times, except after it has been fired. I store it with snapcaps inside the chambers so that I can pull the triggers and rest the trigger springs.

It is important for me to know that I can leave my firearm loaded and untouched for years if need be, yet still have it function properly at a moment's notice. That is why I wouldn't buy a semi-auto for this purpose...magazine springs and such can and will malfunction (at least on the ones i've owned).

Thanks, y'all.

I have a stock Remington model 700 30-06 with a Zeiss 4.5-14x42 scope on it. I can shoot between .5"-1" groups at 100 yards but when taking that to 2 or 3 hundred it gets a little sloppy. My grandfather has a Vietnam era 30-06 that will shoot 1" groups at 300 so I know I am a capable shooter. I already have around $1300 in this gun with just the rifle and scope and I would like to keep that under $2000 after all is said and done. Thanks for all of your help!

Having been away from hunting for several years due to overseas work i am now refitting rifles with scopes etc. Considering that I WILL be using something between 3-4 X 9-12 with a 50 mm rec. Im now looking at brands..
Busnell, Nikon, BSA, Leatherwood, leopold. Taking into consideration the bang for the bucks In leaning toward the Leatherwood. We have all heard that its better to have a $ cheaper gun with a $500 scope than vise versa... * Dont always agree with that.* Anyway id really appreciate personal opinions...

With modern semi automatic handguns why is it recommended to charge the firearm with an inserted magazine, and not simply dropping a cartridge in the chamber, closing the slide, and loading a magazine?

Why does it make a difference?

I have an in-line muzzleloader. When on a multiday hunt I have been removing the 209 primer and leaving the load in the barrel at night to use the next day. Ive never had a problem with them the next morning but am curious if it affects the performance of the load.

I bought this kit for a little twister derringer and i put it together all wrong, mostly do to the kits low grade! The trigger is stuck and completely useless, the spring loaded latch the keeps the barrals from rotating doesn't even have a spring! The hammer has to be drawn and released manaly, which totaly destroys anything begining to resemble auccuracy, and when you do that theres a 50% chance the cap on one barel will fire, and on the other barrel the caps will NEVER fire! I only live fired it once, in which i used a .35 roundball and paper towel wadding. With about a grain of fffg, the ball didn't even leave a visible mark on a hardboard, indeed even the soft lead ball didn't even have a mark! I think since the only nipple that does fire is smashed and deformed not enough spark is getting in, and probably just blowing the powder out without igniting it!
My question is what could i use it for, since it seems fairly useless!
(I attempted to put it in a display, but its sheap plast
