I like 230 gr. Federal Hydra-Shok or 230 gr. Hornady TAP. They are easy on the pistol and don't have much muzzle flash.

It was designed to use the standard .45acp load, which is 230 grain projectile, but, make certain that you use a good quality hollow point for self defense, not "ball" ammo. Ball tends to over penetrate, which endangers bystanders, and while it does do a good job, a hollow point is the better performer. My favorites are the federal Hydro shok 230 grn, the new Hornady "tap" ammo, and Winchesters "black" bulletts.
You can use just about any of the other modern loads, including the 200 or even 185 grain loads, but, stay away from +p or +P+ loads. the "extra" pressure isn't good for the pistol in the long run, and is not recommended by Glock for use in their pistols.

I'd use a 165gr+p or 185gr+p hollowpoint load. The barrel is short and you need a high velocity round. It will be very bumpy on felt recoil but any .45ACP (even loaded with 230gr ball ) is bumpy in a small package.
Update: I owned two Glocks and I never saw the warning about +p loads in the manual. Glocks are extremely durable gunswith a superior recoil spring. My only beef about Glock is that I could never get over the safe-action trigger feel on my finger pad no matter how much I practiced.

I personally think that Hornady has great ammunition. Either their 200 or 230 grain XTP rounds are perfect choices.

I use Cor-Bon 230 +P hollowpoints in my G30. I have experienced no problems with reliability or damage to the gun with these. Of course they are more powerful, so I don't use them everyday, just enough to check accuracy and reliability.
