I'm interested in conducting my own penetration tests with my firearms. To my understanding you want to use wet paper, whats the reason for wet over dry? Then secondly, when performing these tests, how far away should you be from the paper? Would phone books be the best bet? Anything else I should know? Thanks.

My friends and I started getting into hiking but we think that wildlife is pretty dangerous and we don’t want anything to with it. Just in case we get attacked by any wildlife animal, should we run or should we fight back? We are also taking a spear and a US Army knife with us (for our protection). I know that most of the wildlife animals are afraid of humans and they don't want anything to do with us. But that's just what I read I don't know if is true or not? Areas we’re hiking in are in Southern California and those areas are known for bears, mountain lions, coyotes, snakes, and lot more.

Does anyone know how far a female coyote will travel away from her den in search of food if she has kits in the den. Some one told me she will only travel up to a half mile.

my local gun dealer sells Buschmaster and Colt semi-auto AR-15's, and all of them are $1,000+ brand new. impactguns.com has the same prices. i cannot afford to pay that much right now. is there a less reputable brand that produces it for cheaper? or maybe a website i can order through for a cheaper price? what is the absolute lowest i can expect to pay for one brand new?

best answer will get a best answer, thank you.

I have a Marlin 1894SS lever action rifle. I'm looking at 3 different model rounds for my 44. We got the L44MG7 180 grain jacketed soft point, the R44MG2 240 grain soft point and the R44MG3 semi-jacketed hollow point. Now I have a few questions. First off, the L44MG7 is a UMC round and I was told was "cheaper". Is the UMC really an inferior round compared to the other 2 Remington Express rounds? Secondly, the L44MG7 is a 180 grain round but has a higher velocity and energy ballistic rating then the 240 grain R44MG2 and R44MG3, why is that? The L44MG7 is 1610 fps at the muzzle compared to 1180 for the other two. And the L44MG7 has 1036 ft-lbs at the muzzle compared to 741 for the other two. And the ballistic ratings stay superior throughout the range. These tests were on a 4" barrel, I have a 20" barrel rifle. Will I gain? Why is the L44MG7 more powerful? And by alot. Although it is not listed as a centerfire rifle round like the other two are, can I use it exclusively?

I feel that we are very lucky in America to own guns. It is one of our rights that this nation was built upon. It seems like the people that are for gun control are for taking away mine and your rights.
"If guns are outlawed, only outlaws will own guns."
I did not post this under politics because i did not want to get everyones political rants.

For any semi auto 12 ga i have looked at there is big price difference. For the Browning Gold Hunter Classis its a $150 difference!!! Is it worth it?
FYI: I will be hunting turkey, skeet shooting, and possibly duck hunting. Does the extra 1/2" make that big of a difference? I have heard that you can get heavy and powerful 3" loads that will give 3.5" a run for their money.. THANKS!

I was looking through my Remington catalog and noticed something that worried me a bit. I noticed I was firing rounds out of my rifle that are not listed under centerfire rifles. I was shooting model L44MG7 44 Magnum bullets from my rifle. And in my catalog these bullets are only listed under Handgun centerfire. In the Rifle centerfire section it lists the R44MG2 and R44MG3 bullets for use in a rifle but does not list the L44MG7 rounds I was using. The two rounds listed in the rifle section (R44MG2 and R44MG3) also appeared in the Handgun section. So I can see those are interchangeable, but the other round listed in handgun centerfire, the L44MG7, does not appear under rifle centerfire. So I am worried I used a bullet I was not sopposed to. Does anyone know why it is not listed for the rifle? And why only under handgun? Did I mess up by shooting those rounds from a rifle? Just wondering why the bullets I shot are only listed as hangun ammo and not rifle ammo. Thanks!!

if you were jogging in a national forest and surprised a bear or a cougar, do you think that an aggressive dog (rottweiler, rhodesian ridgeback, boxer, etc.) would scare the animal away, or would it escalate the situation?

i've heard that hiking with dogs can attract cougars, but i dont know if this is true.

I recently bought a 9mm pistol so that my wife and I could go out to the range and practice with it. She does well in shooting it but has a very hard time pulling back on the slide to chamber the first round. She doesn't really have the strength needed to do this. I heard that revolvers are good guns for women.. If you have any suggestions I would appreciate it.

There are some firearms, even when compared to comparable firearms of their era, was pure crap...a certain French-made, WWI era light machine gun comes immediately to mind.

There are SO many questions posted as to opinions concerning the best pistol, revolver, rifle, LMGs...I want to see your nominations for the WORST.

What say you?
