I am going to try fishing with Joe's flies on opening day. Not for a fly rod, but a regular casting rod. I have some of their flies for my fly-rod. Do they casting flies work good too?

I just need to know because I'm describing a pistol shooting in a story, and I want to know if I can write "deafening crack of gunpowder".

I am interested in acquiring a shotgun for my father for home defense. My father is not old (60), but I want him to have an easy to use weapon as he gets older.

He currently has a Ruger p89 9mm and a long and very old 12 gauge double-barrel. The long double barrel was my grandfathers home defense and hunting gun and served him very well for years. It is just very long and hard to manevuer in the house.

I know that pump shotguns are generally considered the best home defense weapon. Yet, I worry about the ease of operating a pump as my father gets older. I am considering getting him a coach gun. This is a short double barrel shotgun in 12 or 20 gauge.

Advantages: It's easy to tell if the gun is loaded/unloaded, it is short and easy to manage, and it can easily be loaded in the dark. The disadvantage is only having 2 shots.

Does anyone have thoughts on this issue? The other option might be a revolver, but I would prefer a shotgun.

Thanks,

Hey I'm considering selling my tipmann 98 commando, and gettin an Ion or a Impulse. I now want a fast shooting gun because my tippmann is a singal trigger and can't compete as well as I would like in air ball. Also the gun is very long and is hard to operate in tight spots such as the dorito. If anyone knows about either Impulse or Ion, then could u tell me a bit about how reliable they are or how well they perform? THANKS

I have my lisenese and the last few times I went squirell hunting I didn't see any and so I just want to get some in my backyard. In my area you arn't allowed to shoot any guns unless if its at a range. And the squirells in my backyard won't go in my Havahart any more because in the summer I catch and realease and I think they know now that its just trouble! So can anyone tell me how to make a good squirell snare (Yes I will eat the squirell)?

I want a barrel that can make my shooting more accurate. Do they make any scopes or ways to help you aim better? Should I get one that is longer or shorter. I have a JTUSA paintball gun.

Are buffalo the smartest, wiliest, most arrogant fresh water fish?
Here in Missouri we have a bunch of them. The big ones love to patrol right in the middle of streams and lakes. Then they jump right in front of you, I cast out, they go up/down stream for exactly 37 seconds, come back and jump 2 and 1/2 inches from bait. Then like a skater doing a double, jump again, in case I wasn't paying attention, and look me right in the eye. I've even gone into shallow water in summer to try to punch one out and it squiggles right under my legs and hid in a mocison hole. How do you catch them?

I was fishing off a cause-way and got my lure hooked up. The edge was concrete and about 20 degrees steep. My smart mind told me to break line. My fishermind told me to not let nature beat me. So I started down. Bam, spouting water, grabbing glasses, trying to not drown while laying on my backin I-don't-know-how deep water. Get out of water, and have to climb back off the cause-way. Only thing saves me is a treeroot. The worse is having to tell wife I killed cellphone. But, oh it was glorious to survive and get scared. Was I stupid?

Live in the Tallahassee, FL area and would like to know if anyone knows of good places to go that allow public fishing - without a boat. We dont own a boat, but love to fish. Prefer freshwater fishing! Any public docks, or just good areas to fish and hang out for the day would be helpful. Any useful information would be appreciated!
