They say a picture is worth a thousand words, lets try it.
Here is a picture of a pig pipe feeder and from the photo I would say you should be able to copy its design fairly easy.
I would say PVC lateral line pipe (as used to drain septic systems that already has the holes drilled in the side) glue on cape on one end and a screw on cap on the other end so as to be able to fill with feed and cut to 5 foot to 8 foot lengths chain attached to one end with a swivel so as not to tangle up.
Should work fine.
