I have my lisenese and the last few times I went squirell hunting I didn't see any and so I just want to get some in my backyard. In my area you arn't allowed to shoot any guns unless if its at a range. And the squirells in my backyard won't go in my Havahart any more because in the summer I catch and realease and I think they know now that its just trouble! So can anyone tell me how to make a good squirell snare (Yes I will eat the squirell)?

And when I say I can't shoot any guns I mean real guns, not pellet or bb guns.

Prop a log up against a tree. Take wire (diameter smaller than barb wire) and make around 8 basic snares and drill holes in the log and fasten them in the holes on the sides of the log and on the top of the log. Put bait on the top of the log and the squirrels will go running up to it and hopefully (most likely will) get caught in one of the snares, hanging themselves since they'll fall off the log.

I trust the others on the advice for a field capture (Have-a-heart?). There are others available like Tomahawk traps which additionally are nicely worth observing and which are available in sizes appropriate for squirrels. As for the BB gun. lots relies upon on the gun in question. Squirrels prefer a minimum of three feet-lbs of impact capability to a necessary section for a clean kill. With BBs which skill you pick an impact speed of 515 fps. With 8 grain pellets, that works out to an impact speed of 410 fps. without understanding precisely what form of "pump BB gun" you have its very no longer ordinary to assert if it is going to supply adequate potential. If its a twin-ammunition gun like the Crosman 2100, Daisy 880, Crosman 664, or Crosman 760 which has a muzzle speed of 600+ fps then you definately could have adequate potential to kill a squirrel at 8 yards presented you hit it in the recommendations or the heart/lung hollow area. If on the different hand you're speaking approximately something like a Daisy Grizzly with a muzzle speed of 350 fps or much less then i will decline. you will fairly be extra acceptable off utilising a pellet gun (like the Crosman 2100, Daisy 880, Daisy 22SG, or Crosman Phantom on squirrels considering the fact that lead airgun pellets tend to supply extra capability than BBs. An airsoft gun won't help kill a squirrel. a minimum of no longer except you're making plans on utilising the gun as a club. maximum airsoft weapons have decrease than a million feet-lb of muzzle capability. it incredibly is basically no longer adequate to kill small activity animals/pests.
