I am interested in beginning to build longbows. I have tried repeatedly to cut down hardwood trees that should be good to start with. The problem is that most of the one I have split in half have at least some twist in them. I spoke to a guy that said that I need to steam them to straighten them. How should I go about doing this and what do you use to twist them straight while they are being steamed? Thanks.

Nautical maps are not detailed enough.

What I am looking for is features in the sea/river estuaries that would be godd prospective fishing spots.

I know it sounds extreme, but I just want to try. ^_^

Just asking, because it was a conversation between myself and another fisherman. He stated they only live for 4 years and I couldn't accept that because I have caught them at a very large size and it would have taken them more than 4 years to reach that size.

I am plannning camping in this month with my family, my kids and wife but I heve never camped in the united states and have no idea about it. As first try of camping, I am plannning to camp in or near orange county, CA.
I want to my kids have experience of bonfire, having melty marshmallow and good talk around fire.
Is there any good place to camp around OC, where is safe and good place?
Thank you

I appreciate all help! But please refrain from making smart remarks as answers. If you don't like guns, that is fine. I don't need to know your opinion.

I am interested in purchasing a new or nearly new shotgun for skeet and sporting clays. I have borrowed both an o/u and semi-autos and I enjoy shooting both. At this point I am considering a Beretta 3901 or 391 or possibly an inexpensive o/u. I would like to keep the price in the $500 to $700 range. Suggestions on any online options or brick and mortar in Ohio or Indiana would be most appreciated. In this area we have Dick's, Gander Mountain and Bass Pro as well as several locally own shops. I have checked them all out but still haven't found the selection or pricing that I am looking for.

I am leaning toward a new gun since I do not think I could identify damage or wear on a used weapon.

What's more efficient to use a .22 or a shotgun if I'm hunting rabbit with a beagle? B/c I only have a .22 and don't want to have to spend money on a shotgun lol. Rabbit's circle back to ya....right?

I never actually heard of it. I live in North Central Massachusetts and am interested in hunting turkey this yr. Unfortunately, I haven't had time to go out and get my class a (which is the license I want) so I am considering taking the bow out. Any opinions?

Okay so I've been flown a plane, ridden rollor coasters, and been very high above the ground in other places. But I climbed into a treestand twice this weekend, and both times i was freaked out by the heights, and just plain uncomfortable with the whole situation. I need to know if it just takes a while to get used to or what, because I really would like to hunt from a treestand.
