You need a high power. 22-250 or a 220 swift.

Hmm. Seems you've asked this question already. I'll give you the same answer with one slight correction kindly pointed out to me by someone else:

For coyote? The .22 Magnum is a popular choice but may be a 'stretch' at a hundred yards. If you would resist the temptation to also shoot, oh let's say... deer, why not consider a Ruger Mini-14 in .223? The Ruger Mini-30 might serve you better for this task. It is definately a 100 yard gun and shoots the more powerful 7.62x39 NATO(*) round. Although ammo is getting harder to find, the old US M-1 .30 Caliber carbine is another good 'coyote gun.'

Unless you are keeping the pelt why not use the .243 Winchester? It is a 100+ yard rifle also suitable for deer when using the proper bullet type and weight.

(*) CORRECTION: The 7.62x39 is NOT a NATO round; it is the Russian or "Commie" round. The 7.62x51 is the NATO round. Mea culpa (actually, it was a 'typo').

If you just want to get rid of them any 30 caliber bullet will be sufficient. A 30-06 or a .308 have excellent knock-down power and great range and accuracy as well. But if you want to use the meat for food a .223, .222 or .270 would be perfect.

For knock down at distance I'd opt for .223 minimum, .308 better.

I've got an AR15 and a Remington ADL in 308, both are excellent coyote pieces.. I like the .308 in the Remington ADL because of accuracy and I've not seen a coyote get up after getting busted by a 308 in 30 years.

I easily have used some great calibers for coyotes, frequently a number of my militia surplus rifles. I easily have used my Garand, 8mm Mausers, .30-06 and my prominent, the Swede 6.5x55 in a form ninety six. i don't take the hides and choose to not even touch those nasty issues. those rifles are overkill, i understand, yet i'm frequently on ranches on the permission of ranchers to regulate the inhabitants, in direction of nowhere. i'm in the southwest wasteland and collectively as you think of it somewhat is huge open, it somewhat is easily have been given a superb form of sagebrush and the coyotes can show up from everywhere in the journey that your have a competent call. i like to establish on the area of a hill or mesa so i'm getting a competent assessment of the section and the call sounds are amplified by utilising the hill. This has some drawbacks, as I easily have had them show up at the back of and on suitable of me. I easily have a conveyable blind that retains me hidden and retains the sunlight off too. a collection of adult males out right here use blend weapons.....rifle over shotgun. The rifle of selection is the Savage 24. a competent chum has a .222 Remington over a 20 gauge. He says it somewhat is the ideal coyote gun, as you have selection and a competent shotgun for ones that show up close in. Coyote are very quickly and careful.....they arrive working in quickly yet can %. up a fragrance or sound immediately and disappear as quickly as they show up. there isn't time for sitting around relaxing, you will desire to be scanning the section and be waiting to shoot in a pair of seconds. I plan on getting a .243 quickly for this, it somewhat is have been given a superb form of selection.

OH GOD THESE ANSWERS
OH WELL, I HAVE BEEN COYOTE HUNTING FOR MANY YEARS HERE IN THE DESERTS OF NEW MEXICO
I USE A RUGER M77 IN 22-250 CALIBER WITH A 55 GRAIN HORNADY V-MAX BULLET AND 4350 POWDER
THE REASON I USE THE V MAX IS THAT IT GENERALY DOES NOT EXIT THE COYOTE
THEY ARE A FRANGIBLE BULLET THAT TURNS TO SHRAPNEL AS IT ENTERS THE SONG-DOG
IF I MISS IT WILL DISINTEGRATE AS OPPOSED TO DEFLECTING OFF SOMEWHERE UNSAFE
I HAVE NEVER HIT A DOG THAT WALKED AWAY FROM THE 22-250
IT WILL KILL ONE AT RIDICULOUS RANGES
GET ON THE VHS WEBSITE (VARMINT HUNTERS ASSOCIATION) AND GET EDUCATED LIKE YOU WONT BELIEVE
TAKE IT FROM A GUY WHO HAS PUT DOWN LITERALLY HUNDREDS OF FOX, COYOTES, BOBCAT AND PRARIE DOGS...

The new .257 SSM is a sweet little caliber, and its big enough for deer. You can go to the Remington web site (or other similar sites) and find a bullistic chart, compare the ones that best fit your needs, and then the decision should be easy.

ok then
a 223 is a good varmit gun, it has good range but very little knock-down power

a mac-90 isnt very accurate but they come in semi-auto modes so you can use the "spray and pray" method

try a dragunov gun it is slightly bigger caliber than a 308 gun and my brother (who owns the gun) can kill coyotes at 600 yards easy.

i prefer a 12 or 10 ga shotgun loaded with 00buckshot and i sneak or drive up on them and get them at close range.

and finally you could get a 57 in. barrel 50 caliber BMG a person i know can hit a 1 1/2 group (3 rounds) at 1000 yards.

its your choice

You should git a 220 swift it shoots flat and very fast about 4200 fps out of the barrel. great for squirrels and other varmint. this will kill your coyotes and you will have fun with this gun.if you put a V-max bullet in this gun it will send a squirrel about 3 ft into the air
