This is a movie about bruce lees life, very good, made in about 1993. I was wondering what type of weapon he uses when he fights those englsih sailors in the beginning of the movie. They almost look like nunachucks but the chain is alot longer and the weapon fits right in his back pocket? Anyone know?

when I think of tradition I think of someone who studies only one style, that involves kata and point tournaments. Some one who trains as there "style" requires you to. Not exploring any other Non-tradition like mma or eclectic systems.
What do you consider "traditional" martial art. What is your definition?

First off I am not making any bragging remarks. this is a serious and real statement with question. Be serious in answers.
I know a guy that trains for only one thing, breaking. He can break 5 two inch patio slabs, with spacers. he got me to try one day and I was able to break 8 in exact same way he attempted. I do not do any break training, he has or years. Any reasons behind this. Neither of us were using power so that one is out. I do, however, weight more than him, but again neither of us were relying on power as a main focus to break.

Holy crap! Training last night was enlightening. Shidoshi taught me some Jujitsu moves that I never heard of before, but overall the whole lesson was very satisfying,

I am very tired and sore this morning.

Anyway, he says that I am ready to step up my training even more. Tonight, we start ninja training. I am so excited!

He told me that I needed to buy the ninja outfit. As soon as the martial arts supply store opens, I’m going to pick it up. I also was instructed to get some other stuff for tonight’s lesson. Here is the list:

Some rope and a pulley
Bristles from a street cleaner
Wire cutters
Raw meat
Sleeping pills
A two pound bag of sand
Some baby powder aerosol spray or a pack of cigarettes and a lighter
Glass cutters

Can someone tell me what this is for, or is ninja training a secret? I really want to make Shidoshi proud. Any advice would be helpful.

how long does it take most people in taekwondo or other martial arts to get to each belt. in this case white to yellow? i've only been taking for 3 weeks so far, and my instructor already wants me to test for yellow. is this normal? i come from an aikido background. and yellow belt took me a year. my dad thinks it's a factory that just goes to competitions and advances people that aren't ready. is it?

2007-06-28 20:44:07 · 8 answers · asked by wanda 3

Do you consider breaking wood, brick, whatever to be more a martial skill that takes years to learn or a set or series of "tricks" that make it possible for anyone, to learn rather fast.
when I say "tricks' I mean, using spacers, heating the item, using set up boards etc.

they are like 26-28 inches and they have burned sun designs on them. im a martial artist getting higher in belts, only 16 and ive had them for a few years. there are a lot of dents where the wood is showing under the polish but nothing major. but on one stick there is this beginning to be a black tint and i dont know what it is. nothing i do is getting it off. is it because of the polish or wood or what?

I'm reposting this to see if I can get some more peoples opinions.......

SO I have this younger girl threaten to kick my butt (it's a long story, I don't particularly want to fight, but if it comes down to it I will.....)..... so she claims she's a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and she's been doing it for 7 years. Now I don't know if I necessarily believe her because the first thing that hinted she might not be is that she spelled it Ty Kwon Do :P .... I've never learned it but even I know how to spell it.

Now what I need to know is if we actually get in a fight would i have a chance? I've gotten into brawls before and always come out victorious. The last time the girl grabbed my hair before I knew what was going on and I ended up grabbin hers back and kicked her in the face a couple times..... don't ask me how I was holding her head and made contact with my foot, I don't even know, I was in an enraged state but everyone that saw it said I made contact a couple times....

So this girl recently threatened to kick my **** (don't ask, it's a long story) and she claimed she's a black belt in tae kwon do. First, I dont' know if I believe her cuz she spelled it Ty Kwon Do :P

Second, I'm no martial arts master, but say you're pretty tough and you've gotten into a couple street fights (such as myself) and kicked butt during those (well actually, kicked the girl in the face)..... am I screwed if I did happen to go up against her?

She's smaller then me, not that bright, and if we did end up getting in a fight I see it happening after alcohol has been consumed :P lemme know if I should fear her.

well yesterday i was visiting my family, and i was riding my little brothers razor scooter, and going off a jump, i fell and the metal came back and hit my achilles tendom pretty hard, their are significant sign of bruising, and i get a mild pain while walking. so of course i took yesterdays practice off

i tried doing diffrent stances to tell what would hurt, pulling on the tendom in front stance, fighters stance ect. does not hurt, just a slight pain in walking or running. so do you think its safe to go to practice today, if not, how long do you think i should take off (its def not bad enough to go to the doc, i'm not made of money you know)
