I'm reposting this to see if I can get some more peoples opinions.......
SO I have this younger girl threaten to kick my butt (it's a long story, I don't particularly want to fight, but if it comes down to it I will.....)..... so she claims she's a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and she's been doing it for 7 years. Now I don't know if I necessarily believe her because the first thing that hinted she might not be is that she spelled it Ty Kwon Do :P .... I've never learned it but even I know how to spell it.
Now what I need to know is if we actually get in a fight would i have a chance? I've gotten into brawls before and always come out victorious. The last time the girl grabbed my hair before I knew what was going on and I ended up grabbin hers back and kicked her in the face a couple times..... don't ask me how I was holding her head and made contact with my foot, I don't even know, I was in an enraged state but everyone that saw it said I made contact a couple times....

the reason I'm so curious is cuz I wanna know if I should fear her in any way. I'm sort of a tomboy who use to wrestle around with guys all the time (usually take them down)..... and even use to get "beat up" by my little cousins who were in tae kwon do, but in the end I usually just brought em to the ground and held them down.....
Should I have anything to worry about with someone saying they're a black belt????????
OH, and I'm usually not the type of person that grabs hair..... I think it's pretty wussy, but that last girl came outta nowhere.
I AM The type however to tackle someone and bring em to the ground....

What I’m going to tell you is stuff you need to know about people that take TKD, and how you can get around them. And how most of them do and what they think when they take class and how they train. I am a black belt in tae kwon do. I have been taking it for 4 years and I’m only a 1st degree. Only because I feel the only "real" thing that changes, is the move's in our pattern. So that being said let me go into detail of what she is probably going to do and what she might not know she’s doing and how you can be what you call vicarious afterwards.
If she did know taekwondo she probably won’t be able to fight on the ground. Cause I could admit it. In TKD, they only cover the basics of ground fighting. Being said, if it was a real self defense.. She would probably freeze up and struggle to do what she was taught and forget the basic technique that in my opinion, doesn’t help you at all. All they teach you is to “try” to get up off the ground. The best time to attack somebody in tkd is the milli second after they attack you. For example, if me and you where to fight... depending on the situation, if you where to throw a punch or a kick I would block so hard throwing you off balance.. There-for leaving you for me to attack. If she throws a kick try to block it so hard you knock her of her feet.. Than go for the kill. One thing they don’t teach you is getting out of headlocks, if they do there is an easier way than what tkd teaches.. From experience.. On nights where my head instructor spars (fight) with us.. Every time I punch or kick him he really throws my off my balance, leaving me for an attack from him. That said.. Keep your balance the best you can. I have learned that in tkd the only thing that gets better is the same stuff that you learn everyday in class.. Which are basic: kicks, punches, blocks and stances However, some people are fit and some are not, fit people tend to be a little more aggressive and might not do what there taught in class. So, with all that being said. Watch her hands. Most tkd schools only fight with one hand by there face and the other down low by there side. And get this.. From what I’ve heard tkd styles like that, in tournaments or class sparing, it's illegal to kick to the head. I take tkd through the ITA. International tkd alliance and where taught to fight with both our hands up. ok... ya this is a lot of stuff. I’m just letting you know how she probably is.. In tkd they teach you to do multiple attacks trying to move your stance off so you open yourself up. If she does and bunch of things like that.. just keep your hands up and step back and try not to get hit.. when she is done GO FOR IT... YELL!! When you yell it scares the opponent, kind of like when a parent yells at there children.. when they do they usually back away and let you do the talking. Also.. When people kick they tend to drop a hand... leaving there head open for attack. Ok I hope that you’ve learned something about TKD people. It doesn’t make any difference in rank to me. There are some 3rd degree black belts that I beat the crap out of because they only are being taught the basic moves over and over and they don’t do simple things that I do that prevent me from getting hit.. things that I see that I’ve told you, leaving me valuable to attack. Ok Ok.. ethier your thinking.. this guy is only a 1st degree black belt.. should I listen to him and take his advice seriously. Well let my tell you I started with somebody about 4 years ago. He is now a 3rd degree black belt and chief instructor at another tkd school. That just tells you how long I’ve been taking tkd and how I’ve learned what most people never get to learn. I know more than lower ranks think I know. And what ranks higher than me are still being taught that I already know that what I HAVE JUST TOLD YOU. Like what people say… tkd is a rip off. That being said.. rip off her head.. Good luck if something happens and remember all the stuff I told you. And thank you for taking an hour to read this.

First off, your a bit of a talker. No offense but that's a lot more than I wanted to read. lets move on.
I am a Black Belt in WTF Tae-Kwon-Do. I've bone it for 9 years. From what you've told me, I would bet $50 bucks that say she's never gotten a yellow belt, let alone a black. If you've been in it for 7 years, you know how to spell it. second of all, what ind of Black belt picks fights with people? a bad one. Even if by some miscalculated miracle she actually is has a black belt, she only HAS a black belt. She isn't a real black belt. Black belts don't pick fights in school, period.
lastly, avoid the fight if you can. You will gain nothing if you fight, even if you win. but you could loss much. If you fight her as an equal, you are her equal. Do you want that?

First of all, if she really had a black belt she would not be trying to fight you. The first rule in martial arts is that you do not initiate a fight. You are only to use it for self-defense or in competition. So I don't think you have to worry about that at all. But no one wins in a physical confrontation. If you can find any other way to deal with the situation, try that first. Good luck!

I do tae kwon do and im ALMOST a black belt (only one year away) . Ive been doing it for two years now. we have about 500 people at our school. about 100 of them are black belts and about 5 of them are the ones that are pretty good. I dont think you have anything to worry about, but just in case ask that girl to prove that shes a black belt, then make your decision whether to fight or not.

Try to be her friend and work out your problems.
Unless you're backed into a corner you don't have to fight.
If she's black belt or not, you should try to avoid it.
It doesn't matter if someone is a PINK belt, street fights should never be taken lightly. Especially with guns, knives etc.
Why don't you join the class that she takes and SPAR in there! It's a control ed environment and NO hair pulling!!! :)

personally i think she is full of ****!!-and as a genuine holder of second dan in taekwondo i would be happy to tell her to her face. the first thing we are taught in TKD are our tenets-it varies from club to club but ours are-perseverance/self control/modesty/indomitable spirit/etiquette (some clubs have courteousy instead). now this is the important one!!-if i found out one of my dans was behaving in this way they would be demoted to the coloured ranks with immediate effect. remember these words and ask the idiot if she knows her tenets and if so why does she not observe them. tell her from me that she (if she is a dan-which i doubt) is a disgrace and an embarrassment to TKD practitioners the world over-if she wants it repeating you can give her me e-mail address.
