well yesterday i was visiting my family, and i was riding my little brothers razor scooter, and going off a jump, i fell and the metal came back and hit my achilles tendom pretty hard, their are significant sign of bruising, and i get a mild pain while walking. so of course i took yesterdays practice off

i tried doing diffrent stances to tell what would hurt, pulling on the tendom in front stance, fighters stance ect. does not hurt, just a slight pain in walking or running. so do you think its safe to go to practice today, if not, how long do you think i should take off (its def not bad enough to go to the doc, i'm not made of money you know)

The achiles tendon is nothing to play around with. Take it VERY easy getting back. Ice it for 48-72 hrs, then heat. consider accupuncture. Don't work out hard, especially no free sparring for a few days.

DO NOT mess with tendons, especially the Achilles.

Ice to keep the bruising down then heat to promote healing. Use some NSAID's if you have to for the pain and irritation.

I wouldn't even do much stretching until the pain went away. You'll just irritate it more.

Tendons to take a long while to heal though so you maybe OOC for several weeks. I would still attend practices and not do anything too physical if your instructor allows it. That way you won't miss any knowledge or wisdom that gets given out while you're down.

The Achilles tendon is a very important thing and is very hard to surgically repair. Because of this I would give it a few days rest and perhaps it is only bruised and will be alright with a little time and ice and heat alternating on it if it is still a little sore. I would give it the rest to ensure that you don't have problems down the road.

I had a bruised achilles tendon due using ankle weight without shoes. It ended up bruising my right tendon. It did exactly like you describe mild pain when walking and doing certain stances.

I ended up having to do tons of stretching on my calf and getting brutally intensive calf massages to loosen them up. By massage, they felt like the woman buried her thumb through to my shin.

It took a month until it healed. I ended up getting some wrestling shoes (high top sneakers would work as well) to help support the ankle when practicing karate and jujitsu.

Good luck with the recovery.

Tendom? I thought it was Tendent. w/e. I ignored treating a tendom after a snowboarding accident and now I basically have one ankle. take my advice, take it easy. after about 2 weeks, work up slowly.

nope. you don't want to push this. my freind dose karata and pulled her tendon in her shoulder. she went to her class anyway and ended up making it worse she would have been able to come back in two weeks but because she went then she had to sit out for a three and a half weeks.

No - take time to heal. You may make it worse. if it still hurts in a week - go see a doctor

always treat any injury wisely. Better lay off a few days than a few weeks.
