At my dojo I beat a boy in a kata tournament. Afterwards he said, " Can't believe I got beat by a frickin' girl. That sucks." Then I was reading a question on here and looking at the answers and someone said, "If you get your @$$ beat by a girl then your never gonna get anywhere in martial arts." I just don't get it. In sparring i'm the same level as some of the boys and my level is always raising as I become more competitive with the boyz but everyone still underestimates me and other girls.

The belt rankings seem to be based on doing certain tricks rather than fighting ability. If even little kids can learn to break boards, then it certainly isn't about fighting ability. Some people make it sound like a six year old with a white belt could take on the best street fighter. By traditional standards, you'd actually have to be a first degree black belt just to be considered a novice. Karate is not some kind of magical skill that makes you invincible, as seen on tv.

I see that Ninjas wear these really cool shoes/boots that are split-toed. What are these called? Where do you get them? And does anyone have a pair and can give me tips about them? I hear that they are great for exercise and trail running, so I want to get a pair to exercise in.

I don't have serious problems, however it is relatively easy for me to get a stiff neck and suffer the consequences of it for a few days to a week. Sleeping in a bad position or just moving wrong can set it off. I've been to a specialist and I don't have anything wrong with me, at least nothing that X-rays and MRIs show.

I would like to get into a good exercise routine to loose some extra weight. It seems that everytime I start, I do something to pull a muscle and have to lay off of my routine for a while. Hence, I was wondering if a Yoga routine would be in order to assist in warming up before lifting weights and cardio exercise. Also wonder if it would help with a more balanced state of mind. What are some of the other benefits to Yoga?

Im looking at studying a martial art, checked some out, and Kung Fu sounds about the deadlyst so far. Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun, and we know how well he did.
Do you know a martial art as sick (quickly and seriously destroying your opponent) as Kung Fu??
