Depend on how much you practice an your own. mainly it's stretch and practice. Idealy I'de say twice a week would be a better ballance. I took it every day in korea. that was a bit much. pulled a grion just before my first test.

For most styles and ranking systems these days, two days a week is minimum for a 3 month rank schedule. So if you are a quick learner, in great physical shape and practice every day then 2 days a week. If you don't fit all that you should take 3 or more classes a week. One a week is never enough unless your instructor just passes you very easily. In which case you and he are both cheating your out of your time and money and will not be as prepared as you think you are when a real situation arises.

Every three months? Is your school hard up for cash. I believe when the student is ready is the best way to advance a student. Some may be ready in three months but some may not be ready for 6 months, why hurry a student through the ranks and have an advanced student who moves like a beginner?

from your last post, I saw that you just started so as a white belt, once a week might just be enough to pass your first 3 months, that is if you are fairly athletic and coordinated.

As many people mentioned in your other post, once a week will not be enough to get you to become a good martial artist. Since we don't know you, there are always exceptions of course, for all we know you might be a prodigy.

Hi,

Wow! Things have really changed. I studied TKD almost twenty years ago, and we had class 4 days per week. There were 10 ranks to Blackbelt and testing occurred only only twice per year. I always knew we kicked butt at tourneys, but I never realized how much harder our instrcutor made it on us.

Cheers,

Leo

ps. To answer your question, I would find another school if I were only getting 1 class per week and tested every 3 months.
