I'm going to some third world countries, and I bartend in a pretty ghetto bar where fights happen alot. What's the most effective martial arts for modern day application. I don't want to learn how to defend against ninja weapons. I don't think wrestling/grappling is good if a guy has six friends who are kicking me when I'm down. If someone comes at me with a gun, knife, bat, or fist, which martial arts teaches how to defend quickly and efficiently before more trouble shows? I've heard alot about the Isreali body guard class, can't remember what it's called. Anyone? Thanks.

I'm going to start taking martial arts. After much information gathering, I've narrowed my choice down to two very different styles, Aikido and Krav Maga. I love Aikido's flow, balance beauty and use of leverage and redirecting you're enemies attacks rather than going punch for punch. I'm not a very big guy so Aikido seems the better choice. However, Krav Maga uses multiple styles and seems to be more like "dirty street fighting" and more like life in the real world. Which would be more practical or useful in a real brawl?

I train in mixed martial arts, and am being graded for Green Belt in two weeks time.. However they tell us last night a training that we must come up with a 20 move Kata to pass...hmmm.. I have been wracking my brain all day to think of something that will be easy to remember yet look good also...Anyone got any usefull suggestions or ideas that they wont mind me using in the kata?? a friend of mine suggested just doing 3 or 4 combo's and stringing them along, but I don't think that is what the instructor is after.. Usually for this sort of kata I would concentrate on 1 attacker for a few moves and then move to a 2nd attacker... Any input will be very appeciated..
