IF FROM BEHIND---- .clinch ur jaw onto their arm and grab hold of their arm alsoand then just let your legs give way dropping to the floor (totally unexpected and pulls them down aswel) after that i suggest just struggling out and not tryin to do all sorts of fancy moves etc.

If they have you in a hedlock i can imagine they dont wanna be your mate and seeing as it is your head they have locked arent just going to k.o. you either so be vicious; finger jab to eyes, punch to the throat...... and surprisingly a slap or a smack to hte face as this is incredibly shocking and again unexpected..... if you try slapping the ear you may perferate the eardrum and deafen them. although this rlly seems a bit extreme but its just a thought.
Elbowing to the ribs does not always work. so i recommend not wasting time unless you have felt our arm/elbow touch the attackers ribs previously whilst in the headlock

IF FROM THE FRONT --- if you are in a headlock you are about waist level so u are im prime position for any attack on the groin
i personally reccomend: uppercut, ....if possible a backfist because of the nasty effects of the flicking motion... grabbing, squeezing. strikes to the stomach aswell : upper cut & elbow
stamping on feet good idea but try he top of the foot not the toes because there is a tendancy to break the metatarsals and tarsals in the foot when you stand on the top towards the ankle than the toes.

finally the most important part of my lecture i feel (haha) :

theres a story i found that relates to this entirely!

when asked my a jiu jitsu/ wrestler how he would combat or get out of a certain head lock bruce lee simply replied ... id bite you of course! this is the mindset you should be in when facing this circumstance... hope this helps

hope tht gives you an idea of the mindset a person should be in.....
good luck with your headlock escapology,
L

Wow, there are so many. You have to go with what feels natural for you.
I train primarily in a striking style so my response will be to strike. If the person has you in a head lock from the rear I would most likely drive my heel into the top of the foot (above the arch), one shot may not do so I would continue to do this while trying to drive my thumbs into the guys eye sockets or groin. People reactively guard there eyes and privates. This should be enough to loosen his grip so I can leverage out. Once out his arms will be up which also means his ribs will be opened up. Insert a royal reverse punch (I like to aim up into the lungs).
Of course this is only one thought. I also tend to violently attack (grab and pull or strike) the privates on attackers when they grab me. This usually loosens their grasp.
No matter if you are a striker or grappler it is important to remember that when someone grabs you they now have one less hand to defend with, if they double hand grab you then they have zero hands to defend with. Use this to your advantage.

Most the headlocks I have seen in real situations are rough, jerking around, not always your the traditional standing from the rear headlock. There are many variations but in the street the headlock was not the end move, it was a set-up for a takedown usually. Beware that whatever you do, you must do it fast, hard and with meaning. If you do not the attacker most likely plans on taking you down this could lead to neck injury. Learn how to go down safely or one toss could spell the end for you.

Couple of different locks can be done:

There's the full nelson attackers arms under the arms of victim and hands clasped behin their head. for this you need to be flexible. Parctise by stretching so that your shoulders become more flexible and the head lock won't hurt so much. In this lock drop your body weight and kick back into the shin or stamp down on the top of the foot. when they are distracted swing your body weight to the side and they should slide off you.

There's the one where they put your head under their arm. In this case you can reach between their legs and grab and pull at their gentials. You can also kick their legs out from behind.

Turn your head so your chin is in the crook of the elbow (this makes it so you can breathe), make two fists and strike the aggressor in the groin with the inside of one fist (called a hammerfist) and the other hammerfist strike the aggressors kidney (near or far your choice). The hand at the opponents back then slides up the back of the aggressor grabbing a handful of hair you pull the head back and drive the heel of you palm into the chin of the aggressor. Keep your knee behind the attacker bend and steady as your attacker will fall over it. Take a couple backward steps and give your attackers grapes a squish.

while bent over in the head lock make a fist with each hand with the middle knuckle slightly extended, one fist in front of you the other behind you, first , with the fist in front of you punch the person in the stomach, then almost at the same time but slightly delayed, with the other fist strike the person in the back...people always bend in the direction of the pain, this punch to the back will cause the attacker to bolt up a little, as he does grab the hair and pull his head back and immeadatly ,palm strike his chin or just below his nose, you will have gotten out of the headlock and at the same time ended the confrontation, why break loose juat to run away they can catch you and attack all over again...you need to end the confrontation...and that usually involves inflicting pain

question is how to get out from a front headlock, or behind headlock? if it's from the front, astirke to the groin will weaken them, followed by grabbing the wrist, twisting out and getting behind the opponent; form there you can either grab a choke from behind and bring them down by kicking the back of their knee, but you got to keep the torque (by this I mean the twisting of the grabbed arm) locked on the opponents arm.

this works well against a friend who is drunk or you have an arguement that gets a little out of hand.

if it's an attacker, you'll wind up with a chokehold of your own to give them something to think about.

if it's from the rear grab the closest leg and pull it out from under them (you'll also fall as well but they'll take the brunt of the fall)

from there you can go for a groin strike or roll out to get clear.

whatever the the way you are attacked, you have to do it quickly, or you'll end up on the ground, usually the opponent will try jerk you in several directions to get you off balance to bring you to the ground for a guard position (straddling your legs or waist for punches to the face or back of the head) attack.

A counter move that involves you spinning and separating yourself from them. It really depends on if you are in the head lock from the front or behind, standing or lying down. It can be as simple as going in a quick circle, or falling down quickly. Depends on how the head lock is applied!

if the head lock is part of 'horsing around', just grab or start pinching in rapid succession the back of the thigh or triceps area of the arm. Give yourself a quick pinch and you'll know what I mean.

if it's an attacker, turn your head into the bend of the elbow so they can't crush your throat and grab, rip, uppercut the groin as hard as you can. If you life is on the line, nothing is 'unfair'

The best way is not to let anyone put you in a head lock in the first place!!!

I could give you days of examples.... but are you refering to the front headlock? The rear? What?

All the best!!

IIf it's from behind you, back into it and attempt to elbow the person clinching you in the ribs...if you cannot make enoughimpact this way try to mule kick the attackers legs or shins. Stamping on feet is also a good way if the shoes they wear are soft material and not boots.
Try to push back rather than pul them forward, just remember that, as you're only exhausting yourself and choking yourself more
