Im not asking if it is or isn't a martial art in civilian form, coz I would get to many arguments.
But could anyone suggest a better form for the street?
Talking defence only. no glory in bashin the crap outa someone less skilled or weaker than urself.

It really doesn't matter what style you are using, if you aren't a good fighter then you're toast. A little old lady who's really good with a cane can beat the crap out of a lousy martial artist. It is the individual martial artist, NOT THE STYLE, that makes the best defense on the street. If you suck, you suck, I don't care what style you know.

Is it the best? Who's to say? Does it kick ass? For Sure! Rule #1...dont F*$k with the Israelis or their methods of fighting. Israel was only created yesterday (when looking at the big picture) Most Israeli youths have Grandparents who were directly affected by the holocaust, these youths are certainly not going to let the same thing happen to them. Now that Jews have a place to call home they are more like Malcom X with his philosophy of defending yourself even if it means violence. Gone are the days of the passive Jew. Man am I ranting...sorry. My point is Krav Maga was created for the Israeli military to defend its first homeland in thousands of years. If you want to fight the Jews, wether it be hand to hand combat, by gun, airplane, or grenade you can expect a rabid animal to attack back.

Try Muai thai kickboxing and shotokan then jiujitsu combined those 3 decipline and your one of the best at street fighting but running is the no.1 defense on the street especially if your opponent has a gun

It is an excellent combat art, but if you don't know how to apply the techniques you learned properly, you're done, end of story.

Practice, and training is the only way to become competent enough to defend yourself, so it's up to the individual and how seriously they take the training. if you don't take it seriously enough or don't continue training and using the technique or learning the proper way to apply it, then you have learned nothing and wasted your time.

not to mention get whupped for nothin'.

at the very least I would think that you would've learned your lesson and take your training more seriously if you did.

My teacher said, "If all you know is a front kick, but you practice 500 x's a day, no one can defend it".

Its not about the style, but rather the intensity and depth of practice...
