Honestly, you will probably get cleaned up rather quickly. Three weeks in any martial art isn't enough vs. someone of brown belt level.

Much less an art that is so similar.

It might be slightly more realistic of a question if say you were taking your 3 weeks of BJJ to grapple with someone who has no grappling skills.

Your brother will more than likely Gi choke you rather quickly, but you will learn from it. If you practice with him regularly you can pick up things that Judo guys do that BJJers do not, and he can learn the same from you, making you both more complete Martial Artists and grapplers.

Try to find someone who is a wrestler as well, that would help round out your abilities.

Even 1 year of BJJ probably won't prepare you for a brown belt level Judoka who has competition experience.

Then again it depends on how he trains, who he trains with, etc.

But 3 weeks vs. multiple years, you can and should expect to get tapped out. But you will learn from it quickly, and become better because of it.

More than likely your older brother just wants to give you a lesson in humility and show off his Judo vs. your BJJ. Perhaps you two got in some sort of argument about it and he basically called you out. To show that BJJ isn't the best end all martial art out there.

You take his challenge and you will be humbled, but hey maybe you need that. At the very least see where you stand with your skills against someone else that you don't regularly train with.

Just my 2 cents.

It will definately help you to work out with someone using a different style. Beware the "BJJ is the ultimate" syndrome. You have only 3 weeks experience versus someone with much more training and experience. He will wipe the floor with you because he has more training and experience. It's not the style, its the practitioner. It's all about training, experience, and proper application of technique.

Both of you in a philosophical sense.
He will most likely dominate you, however you will have gained that much more experience for competing. Certainly you have the most to gain from the experience.

My brother and I both study at the same school. When we lived together all we did was work out ( both sparring and form). It was a blast plus we progressed so must faster than those around us because we lived, ate and slept the art.
