From what I have been reading, Jiu-jitsu is for those second grade athletes that society didn't want to discourage -yet, I always thought it is a special sport for special little guys... I find it sweet...

Bear with me i understand this question is probably asked alot.
Im twenty years old i work out with weights but dont really bulk up alot mainly stay toned.
Im looking for a martial art which is not self defence. One that comes with the traditional values that i can learn about and live. Something that will hopefully add structure to my life.
I would also like one that i can train in with no instructor on the bag/ mat alongside group lessons, would muay thai be suitable do you think.
Any help much appreciated having trouble pin pointing which one is right for me?

I'm in training to be a cage fighter, but she says I'm too old (35) and too fat (5'10" 205 lbs). I come home with bruises and sprains from my MMA classes -- my co-workers think that I'm a wife beater or bar brawler.

My girlfriend smokes cigarettes and cooks fatty foods -- which make me fat, and the cigarette smoke grosses me out the more I'm around it.

This is really hurting my MMA aspirations. What should I do?

MMA is not a style of fighting it is a catagory of competition. MMA is Mixed Martial Arts. You can't train in it. You start off benig skilled in one martial art like Judo than you learn another like Jiujitsu than you learn some muay tai for strikes. That's mixed martial arts. If you look at all the champions in the UFC they all have boxing trainers and wrestling trainers and Jiujitsu Trainers that they go to seperately depending on what they need to work on more.

29/3/2006 IFL championship the main event was Gracie and Millitech i thought the fight would have gone for allot longer and that Pat would have lasted a little longer on the ground even with a Gracie.
Renzo Gracie won the fight in 3:37 of the first round by submission.
What did you think of the fight?
Do you think Pat should fight again?
