If you want to fight again soon then no....just depend on if you do damage this again you will be out of action longer, and that will be even worse

As already stated. You do not mention when the fight night is. And how bad you are hurt. I once won a british title fight with a fratured jaw. But then i.m a 3rd dan kickboxer. And have been training for 15 years. My advise to you is. care for that injury. If you are still training. Strap it. And minimise the contact. you dont even mention the form of karate that you pratise. You have been very vaig about all this. and wen you are at home. Put you finger in ice. And on the day of the advent. Traped that finger. And the very best of luck to you. Good luck with your karate. chief kickboxing intructor

Put some ice on the affected area for 10 mins at a time, this will bring the swelling down and reduce the pain. If you go to fight night just strap the affected finger to an unaffected finger high up at the first knuckle. You can always wear a hand pad, but most importantly dont try and block open handed, keep it as a fist.

You should be fine.

I would wait. The last thing you want to do is riks further exasperating the injury. Do that and you could be out of trianing for weeks. Get it x-rayed to make certain it isn't broken if it is then let it heal before you go into competition. If it is just bruised of sprained, then it's a toss up. YOu could do fine, you could make it more severe. Bets bet is to wait all around. After 33 years I've had my share of injuries and it's better to lose a few days or miss a competiton than to lose weveral weeks recovering form an injury that could ahve been prevented. Pain is one thing, injury is another.

I've fought with bruises, stab wounds, strains, sprains and the like. I could handle the pain. But breaks are another matter. fighting with a break could casue serious, even permanent damage.

BTW where is this at, sounds like a place for me to be...

It depends on how much this competition means to you personally. If it is something that you really realy want to win, and have trained hard for and feel that you still have a realistic chance of winning then why wait. You never know what life holds so go for your goals when you can. If on the other hand you are going to go in half heartedly and use the injury as a reason for a poor performance, or it will put you at too much of a disadvantage, then it does not make sense to enter. The decision is yours, be truthful to yourself and you will make the correct decision.

I wouldn't do it, because the biggest problem is fighting with the injured finger, if you do fight it's risking further injury and making it worse, especilay since it sounds as if it may be fractured, but it's difficult to tell.

If you really do still wanna fight, get some medical tape and tape the injured finger as close to the middle of your hand.

if it's the pinky, tape it to the ring finger, ring finger tape it to the middle finger, forefinger to the middle, middle finger tape it to either the ring or forefinger etc. if it's the thumb I'm afraid you'll have just keep it tucked as closely as possible to avoid further injury, but it's no guarantee.

you want to tape the injured finger to another good finger to provide support for the injured one.

good luck

Don't let a small injury on your finger stop you from what you want to do. Just beware during your kumite that you have that injury. You will be fighting with a handicap but "oh well".
If you do fight the biggest fear is further injuring the finger.
But if you are very aware of it this can be avoided.

take some good advice, don't fight. if the injury is more severe than you realise you could cause a lot more long term damage ,there always another time, this could be a blessing giving you more time to prepare for the next tournament

You could fight and run the risk of getting hurt worse. There is nothing wrong with waiting, be patient. When you fight, you want to win. To win you need to be healthy.
