I'm looking to buy a new road bike, to get from home to work, because i lost my license(22miles each way), i run a lot so i'm in really good shape, I'd like a really fast bike, I'd like to be able to hold 40mph on a flat if possible. I'd prefer not to spend over $1500. I'm 6'2 200lbs, any suggestions on the best bikes and what size for me, thx

Hello everyone,

I think I may have discovered just the bike for me, however I am worried that snipes by people in my community who are trying to make a quick buck may try and intercept this and coerce a sale out of me.

Is there some way I can forward the details of this bike to someone here on this yahoo answers cycling forum? It would be through my MSN account, so I'd probably be forwarding it (the offer on this bike) to you, and you'd in turn tell me whether or not I'd be getting a peach of a deal.

This all may sound like paranoia, but the bike looks to be something of a real deal -- a real steal, in laymen's terms. So I want there to be a fair playing field, without someone trying to sell me a... what's the word for a bad bike? A lemon? Heh.

My e-mail address is stylishdf@yahoo.com, but I'll get your e-mail address (which is not provided over yahoo answer profiles) and send you the pics, details, etc,.

Best answer goes to person who answers (over e-mail).

Thanks.

I'm an absolute novice when it comes to entry level mountain biking. I have 3 bikes shortlisted, but know next to nothing about the quality/performance of all of the components, including the weight of the frame. All I know is brands like Shimano and SRAM - but not the difference in performance/quality.

Below are links to the 3 bikes i have shortlisted. Could an expert in the field give this rookie some impartial advice on what would be the best choice out of the below please!?

Whether it is duties at the border, the tarrifs from American-made bikes, the cost of buying a bike in Canada is sometimes prohibitive of the likely bike enthusiast to put the pedal to the metal.

So why is it that Canadians pay so much more to hit the pavement on two wheels than four -- gas prices here in Canada, but not Ontario at the moment, are comparable to the United States' gas prices, and in some cases lower. This is inexcusable, there needs to be some barriers dropped if the cycling community is to thrive... why isn't there something being done to strike down what could be, for Canadians, something as enjoyable as playing outdoor street hockey, which requires a measly tennis ball and hockey sticks, or any other sport out there.

What can a lone Canadian do to fight these outrageous expenses to enjoy something that should be cheap, affordable and non-prohibitive?

I'm someone who lives close to the border, should I border hop or is there an alternative?

Thanks,

Av

how long does it take to get lean and fit while spinning. Let say I spin for about an hour a day for four days a week. How long would it take for me to be all muscle and no or little fat. (Basically to be in shape).

I recently bough the cheapest bike I could find at $53. It's an adult sized bike that says "Mt Fury" or something. I hear of bike costing 200-300 dollars. What are the benefits of these bikes. My school campus is VERY hilly, and I get tired easily going up hill. Could it be because of my bike?

Im thinking about buying a new push bike. It will be ridden on the roads, the paths and maybe off road occasionally.

I wont be doing anything "extreme" with it.

Currently i am looking at a bike with FRONT suspension. The bikes are around the £400 mark and the brands im looking at are Trek, GT, Specialised and Pinnacle.

1. Is suspension necessary?

2. Will it reduce the speed of the bike?

3. How do i know that when i push off and start cycling, the suspension wont always push in (which will be annoying)??

4. Which of the above four brands would you recommend?

5 Any other tips for this novice??

Thanks for your help.

Aside from the obvious way you sit on one, what real difference does it make when it comes to your workout. I know the upright ones are harder on my back since there is no support, but will it make a difference either way?

Im curious, is there a certain height/angle that my bike handlebars should be at, for example, should they be level with my seat and far enough forward so I have to lean forward more? Thanks!
