i have an older model proform 900L and i can't find any info or a user's manual for it online. a model that seems similar has something called SMR Silent Magnetic Resistance (what is this?)Anyone have a clue?

You can't find a resistance adjustment because there isn't any.

Magnetic resistance is automatic based on the speed you pedal- the faster you pedal the greater the magnetic field is generated which is trying to slow you down. This is a very smooth type of resistance and it is doubtful you could even tell that it is changing because there is no "drag".

This type of resistance is much preferred over the friction type because it is so smooth and much more effective when the equipment is used to its potential.

Well on my bike which is pretty old there should be a little handle on the side of the handle that shows numbers. If you play around with that it should work. Or if your bike is older around the front wheel, there should be a thing that u can unscrew to make the Resistance change but I'm not very sure.
