If you're old like me and your lower back gets tweaked after a hard ride, try stretching the butt muscles (piriformis).

I find that this one does more than anything else, including hamstrings, to loosen up the lower back pain.

warning: it's best to do this when you're warmed up.

You don't really need to stretch just get on and quietly warm up. give it a good 10-15 minutes before you do anything too vigorous and you will be fine.

If you get cramps or aches stretch those areas as required.

Never turn down a massage after a ride, especially if she is good looking

Stretching is old hat well and truly out of vogue

These stretches work while riding a bike but be very careful:
-with foot on the pedals, straighten your leg and then allow your heel to lower below the level of the pedal (stretch calves), do both legs
-with one hand on handlebar, raise ankle towards the butt to stretch the thigh muscles while keeping opposite leg on the pedal
-with a hand on the handlebar, rotate opposite shoulder rearwards while looking to where you are going. This will twist the torso and stretch the back
- circle your shoulders around (hands on bar please) then go opposite way

Be sure to stretch the following major muscle groups, Calves Gluteus muscles (a.k.a. glutes) Hamstrings Quadriceps (a.k.a. quads) Upper and Lower Back. Before and after riding (exercising ) to prevent injury and promote flexibility and prevent soreness.
Cycling builds muscle strength, particularly in the calves, gluteus muscles, hamstrings and quadriceps. It also improves cardiovascular health, ( lungs ) and elevates your heart rate.

any stretches are good, obviously the legs and back
but don't forget arms and neck (for circulation)
