What's the fastest bike type I can use on the streets? Mountain Bike?

On the road, nothing is faster than a road bike. Even a mountain bike with slick tires is no match, because the aerodynamics, rolling resistance and efficiency of a road bike is superior on pavement.

As far as "kind" of bike is fastest, that would be road bikes. As far as "specific" bike, the fastest is Sam Whittingham's Diablo II custom recumbant - 81 mph, set near Battle Mountain, Nevada in 2006 at the sixth annual World Human Powered Speed Challenge.

P.s. I am an avid road bike fan. Recumbents usually faster faired (aerodynamic shelled) recumbents are faster again. Much faster.
