i am going to buy a bike and i am not sure how the gyro works. can someone please help me?

just to add to what Glenn said, this allows the front wheel & fork to spin around without tangling the brake cable...

in order to do certain tricks, this was developed to allow you to still have a front brake lever & assembly (prior to this, the only way to spin your front tire around was to NOT have a front brake)

Basically one cable becomes a two pieces. The top one (brake lever cable) pulls on the top half of a collar that allows the bottom half (with the brake cable) to spin.

The collar slips up and down around a guide mounted around your stem.
