I'm a guy with 5.9 feet tall.
I'm thinking to buy a mountain bike, just for fun / do regular exercise. Which model that i should choose ?
i mean diameter of the wheels.
What are the advantages a bike without suspension ? (except lighter & cheaper).
Why in bike sport they dont use rear suspension ?

Thanks

Today, while I was visiting the bank, I looked out of the bank windows & noticed that two strange-looking young men were doing something to my bike. I have no idea what, but one of the men was squeezing my hand-breaks while the other was actually STROKING my bike's bar, the bar that goes along the side of the pedals. I love my bike very much & am very protective of it as I heavily depend on my bike to get me to work since my work is too great a distance to walk. I also enjoy cycling my bike for pleasure. So, naturally, when I saw these men acting strangely towards my bike, I rushed to my bike's defence. I rushed to the bank doors & shouted to them, "hey! That's my bike. Don't touch my bike." They apologised and left, which was fine. However, it left me a little shaken & confused as to what they were doing. I always chain my bike up, so I wasn't frightened of it being stolen or anything.

What do you think of this strange story? What on EARTH were they doing to my bike?

i'm thinking of getting a new fork for XC and road
looking for a good performance fork within my budget
hope to get a light fork if possible.
remote lockout is a must for me.
budget 550SGD. about 350USD
have 3 choices. not sure if its within my budget
-
3 choices are fox vanilla R or RLC and rockshox SID race
fox vanilla is about 500grams heavier and is coil fork
SID race is dual air and very light
but i like the fox brand more
which one do you think is the best in performance?
which one is the cheapest and the most expensive?

The place I bought it at just told me that I should replace my chain soon when I brought it in for a 60 day tune-up. As you could guess, I bought the bike not to long ago, and since then I've put around 200 miles on it. Everywhere I've found online suggests replacing your chain ever 200 miles, so changing it already seems premature. But that he told me it is getting bad has me a bit paranoid: Is something I'm doing putting unnecessary stress on it? Is something wrong with my cassette already that has him worried? Or is _he_ the one being paranoid?

I maintain my bike pretty well and I'm _pretty_ knowledgeable. But in the simplest terms, how do I know when my chain is getting bad?

How do I choose a bike for me. I want one that can hold my weight seeing I will be riding this bike to help me lose weight and to take my dog on run/walks. What kind of bike should I get?

It might sound crazy, but I was wondering, those baby bicycles were fixed gear. Can we perhaps steal their hub and build a adult wheel with it? Theoretically, both are fixed gears, so....
would it work?

I am mainly concerned with the weight of the bike and the components so... from what I've gathered so far I think the Trek 4500 WSD or the women's Specialized Rockhopper? Any other suggestions to look at?

I bought a new bike with the aim of getting fit. I did several days of cycling maybe 5/6 miles but the thing is that while i'm cycling i don't know what to focus on.

Sometimes i start thinking of how long it seems to be taking and then its really unenjoyable.

What do people think about while they are cycling?

What are they aiming for when they go out?

Aiming on getting fit doesn't seem to be keeping me motivated, i need something to stop me thinking about how mcuh more i have to do before i can go home.

When people talk about "The One Bike", we think that these people are asking for a bike that can do everything.I am looking for this "one bike".
However,my definition of "The One Bike" is this: it will be the one bike that I would ever be able to afford in this lifetime (as I will be spending all my savings - $2000 - on it), it should be able to last for the rest of my life, giving a lot of room to improve my riding skills,& be the one bike I will use everyday wherever I go (from daily city commutes to weekend trail rides-climbs + descents + stunts) .
That's why Im asking you what bike should I get? I'm 5'8", 70lbs, never raced nor competed (no spectacular bike skills either). I ride my "discount store" pogo-sprung bike to work and to trails everytime I get a free weekend. I love and enjoy riding! I'm at the end of my 20s & wanna be a better biker towards the prime years (fitter & more inlove with mountain biking).

what type of exercises does your personal trainer have you do, and for how long do you train? do you think it's worth it?
I pay $40 per hour session. Do you think that's about average?

I recently purchased a high-racer recumbent bicycle called the Bacchetta Strada. I love the bike except for one thing: I have had so many flats I've lost count. The tires are thin (650 x 23), so I expected more flats than usual--but this is ridiculous.

Can anyone recommend a reasonably light, but tougher tire that is 650 x 23? Ideally, you have had first-hand experience with this tire.

Thank you!

As a cyclist myself I like to think I am responsible but I just cannot believe how bad some of the others are. I encountered someone on the cycle track coming down the wrong way. 2 foreign students riding side by side on the wrong side of the road, people riding on back lanes with NO lights, crossing road junctions without looking - is it me or had anyone else noticed the appalling behaviour. I truly wonder why.

After I got a bike fit for my road bicycle it feels like the stearing has a "nervous/wobbly" ride. I could shorten the stem about 1 inch (2/3 cm) from the original 4,5 inch (11 cm) and/or lower the stem angle from todays 20 degrees. Would it help? Is it maybe something else? (The stearing isn´t loose)
Thanks!!!

How critical is stand over height test ? The top bar of my new bike just touches my private parts. Not uncomfortable, but 0 clearance. The weight is great and I think the bike is otherwise fine. (This weekend is the end of my return period of time.)

What is significance of this test? So that at a stop light, I will be comfortable while waiting? So that I can separate myself from the bicycle in an accident?

I bought this bike for like 70 something bucks at Walmart more than a year ago. At first it was fine but then it started giving me headaches. Stuff started to get loose and no matter how many times I tightened it it started to fall apart again.I want to get a new one, but I don't want to spend too much money. What's a good bike that's not gonna cost me more than 200bucks?

I have a brand new Canondale bike. Love it to pieces. My only concern is that the saddle sticks out a lot from the anchor (roughly 8 inches when my leg is straight and the peddle is down). Does this create instability or unsafety for the saddle? The minimal insertion point for the saddle stem is inside and hidden in the anchor tube. How far inside and hidden should this min insertion point be?
