It might sound crazy, but I was wondering, those baby bicycles were fixed gear. Can we perhaps steal their hub and build a adult wheel with it? Theoretically, both are fixed gears, so....
would it work?

A kiddie bike hub? You don't seriously think a $2 hub made for a 25 lb child would work... do you?

No they are not a fixed gear. They are a single speed but the sprocket will freehweel if you stop pedaling. This is unlike a fixed gear bike where the rotation of the rear wheel and cranks are directly linked.

In theory - Yes!!!

If you are an experienced wheel builder then, by all means go ahead!

Having no experience at building wheels, It's dawning on me that I'm out of my depth!!!!

Hub, rims, spokes! - can't be that difficult - Can It???

EDIT: Thanks for the thumbs down Jay P ( Yes I know it was You!) but you are WRONG!!!! - A lot of kids bikes are indeed, fixed gear !!

Unless you are sure of what you are talking about - DON'T CRITICISE OTHER PEOPLES ANSWERS - JERK!!!

dude, merely pony up and purchase the main suitable hub. a childs motorcycle hub won't tolerate the stresses of an grownup rider in a fastened kit utility. i understand you like a fastened kit, i want a madone, yet finnancially its not an determination. in case you cant have adequate money to try this properly proper now shop up for it.
