Specialized have nice bikes . My friend have one to and he is happy with it . I am according to my wife bicycle maniac , so I have modified Raleigh hard tail MTB for cross country and for Rockies trails I using new Trek Fuel EX . Anyway my favorite bike is touring Trek 520 and back in Europe touring Cannondale 1000 X . About 3 month ago cyclists from this forum help me building my new dream touring Co-Motion Americano just for my touring needs , they did use all the knowledge and experience they have , so this touring bike is not only functional but also light and beutifull . I getting little older so my Colnago road racing bike did see years ago better times - but I still use it for charity ride and so on ..... Did I mention modified commuter bike modified by me just for really fast bicycle lines , it have compact gears , racing tires , it is agile , fast and more comfortable then today's standard commuter bicycle . I tell you one cyclist secret , there is not really important what kind of bicycle you riding or what made it is for pleasure if fit to your frame ! Important is that you riding , any bike in any weather . More you riding more pleasure you have . So dress properly according to weather condition and have bike in good working order . Wish you many happy and safe miles defect free ......

How. Me go-um mountain bike.
(Sorry, couln't resist from your sentence style).
Anyway, I tend to ride locally, either riding 20-30 miles from my back door (there are plenty of tracks and bridalways to choose from and I will usually just take an ordinance survey out with me, so if I spot a route that could be interesting, I can cycle to it and then see how overgrown it is.)
I also ride with a club. This means changing at work, driving to the ride location (Varies from each ride) and then riding off into the sunset. Typically these runs are within the county and take about 2 hrs or 20 - 30 miles.
In addition to this I do the local lakes (Pitsford, Gratham, Stanwick and Rutland). I also trail quest (Orianteering on bikes). The Next one is the Cristmas Cracker, 30th Dec at Foxton Locks. Anybody fancy coming, you will have to sign on to the MTQ site and get a membership number (Although they are able to sign up to 2 riders on the day). I think its only a 3 hr event in winter, although it might be 4.
I also ride to work occasionally on my road bike (Ralleigh Royal, oldie but goodie ten speed), which is about 10 miles each way.
I ride a Giant XTC SE. I have put Panaracer Fire 1.8 s on, bar ends and have upgraded a couple of the components.
Luck

Usually, I just go to the nearest state forest area that has decent trails ( almost all in my area are open to mountain biking). I also tend to go to lots of organized events. They tend to be really great. I mostly ride a hard tail Trek 4300. But, occasionally I also ride a Mongoose Wing full suspension bike that I rebuilt after one of my friends was ready to throw it out. I like hard tails better, but the full suspension is also fun on occasion.
