I am an avid cyclist and I'm 7 pounds away from my perfect ideal weight. My boss suggested this diet which doesn't eliminate carbs..but drastically reduces them. This diet worked wonders for him and the three days I've been on it I can tell it'll do the trick! For my morning 25 mile rides I've been eating a bowl of high protein/fiber no sugar added cereal. It is not on the diet of course but I feel I need it and once I get home I follow the diet. This Saturday will be my first long distance ride on this diet. I'm spending 4-5 hours riding and I know some bowl of ceral isn't cutting it. I typically bring with me some gatorade (pure sugar goodness) and granola bars or some other quick eating carb/sugar source. Biking well comes before weight loss so if I gotta screw the diet then screw the diet. But I'd like to know if anyone out there has experience with low carb diets and bicycling. Any advice on what I should eat would be appreciated.

So I'm out looking at new bikes after 15 years of not riding and I see this Hybred thing.

I've been thinking of a mountain bike (Trek 4300 because I like the rugged good looks) but now I find this Hybred (Trek 7200) interesting.

While I would ride on mostly paved streets, I forsee a light trail every now and then. Is the Hybred the answer?

Bicycle brakes are supplied as "front" or "rear" or as a pair. I see no difference in the appearance of the brakes. I realize that the braking forces through the brakes are opposite, front to rear, but I don't see any physical differences in the brake's design. Except maybe for the length of the mounting bolt.

My friend, Jack, got his bike stolen the other day. He left it in the front yard because he was in a hurry. He usually puts it in the Garage. The bike was expensive, he said to me. What should he do? He is only 14 Should he raise money for a new bike, or find the guy who stole it, etc? And if he does find the bike what should he do? Go take it or what?

I see bike racks for both 2" and 1 1/4" receivers. I have 4 bikes to transport and currently have a 2004 Ford explorer with a 1 1/4 inch receiver. Appreciate any links to accurate data on the web showing this -- and any good bike racks to get.

i just installed a new XTR bottom bracket a few weeks ago and have not ridden it hard but it seems to creak from that BB area wen i sprint. my handlebars creak randomly were they attach to the stem. i tried a little chain lube as well as installing them dry and they still creak. this is very frusterating on a $1500 bike!!

What is the best way to find bike paths in your area -- your town and neigboring towns.

I found a bike path map/flyer for Westchester County NY

I wish I had one for my county (Fairfield County, CT), but keep searching and searching & don't find anything.

I want real bike routes (paved), not dirt trails.

Thanks!
