Baseball - December 2007

Lots of big names were just dropped in the Mitchell report. Future hall of famers, MVP's, all-stars, etc., but do the fans of the sport really care that these athletes are on steroids or will they continue to go in record numbers to the games?

dont be so quick to label people as steroid users yet ,this has not been decided yet....lets wait for the law suits for defamation to start

Barry Bonds represents 1% of the people on Mitchell's list.....
Baseball is tainted and we should allow women to form Women's Baseball Teams....The era of Men's Baseball Team should be over.

Over 50 players tied into steroids report including some of MLB's elite: Roger Clemens, Andy Pettite, Miguel Tejada, Denny Neagle, Paul Lo Duca, David Justice, Barry Bonds, Todd Hunley, Jason Giambi, Mo Vaughn, Gary Sheffield, Lenny Dykstra and more! Senator George Mitchell led this two year investigation and is involved with Red Sox management. Many of the names are current Yankees or American league players. Problem here or is he just doing his job?

He will find some way out of it even though i beleive some where down his career he did use steroids.

Obviously steriods are bad and it ridicualous that is even in baseball. But with that said the Mitchell report has many holes in it. Roger and Andy are the only two on the report that have solid proof that they used. Most of the list is hear say and speculation. I don't believe they should have named any names at all until they check everyone in baseball and know for sure. In the report he said there are more players out there taking steroids if they would have dug deeper. If i had a vote I would look just at that stats of each player because until you look at every player in baseball you cant just label those players of steroids user. Because more than likely they used at one time.

I don't get. Why is this a big deal? I don't see the fans boycotting baseball or doing anything that proves that steroid use in baseball means anything to them. Why are steriods illegal? The players have a right to do what ever they want to their bodies, right?

This cannot be about making a statement about cheating. We are living in the times of the unbeaten "Patriots" so this cannot be about what messages the athelets are sending to our kids because now they know that cheaters do win.

Can someone explain why this is a big deal?

I'm looking for a specific site that lists ALL players involved with steroids released in the Mitchell Report. I know all about the Mitchell Report, but I couldn't find a specific list of players. If you know what page it is on in the report, just tell me that. I'm not looking for the big guys (Clemens, Bonds, Tejada) but the less popular players!

I know this george mitchell guy is one of the men in charge of the red sox and from what alot people are saying on espn is that if there is no current red sox players on the list then the list and mitchell have no credibility and its just means that he is trying to tear teams up so his red sox can keep on winning. At least that is what some of the analysts on espn are saying i just dont know what to think anymore.

Is the list accurate in your opinion?

I believe that Pete Rose never bet against his team. I believe that steroid use enhances a players performance, where Pete Rose only expresses the hope for a possible outcome. I believe that steroid users have damaged the game many times more than Pete Rose ever did. Pete Rose played like he was on steroids when he wasn't. I wonder what these steroid users would have played like without them. I believe that not one of the steroid users should get in to the Baseball Hall of Fame before Pete Rose does. Pete Rose is getting the shaft! What do you think?

I mean everyone has ben CRYING about Barry Bonds and him needing an asterisk....What they gonna say now about Roger CLemens, Eric Gagne, Miguel Tejada, Andy Pettite, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc. According to the report ATLEAST 5% of baseball players tested positive. And that was when they KNEW they'd be tested. Who knows how many laid off in time to pass. I say an asterisk needs to be placed on the whole STEROID ERA......As an American, I am embarrased that this is OUR National Pasttime.
