the same reason they're saying Jason Varitek is. They want to feel special. I'm a die hard Red Sox fan and I personally think that Derek Jeter is one of the best shortstops to play the game. The guy is amazing.

Props to Ann for her answer. And Red Sox you're just a hater anyway so go back to watching your soaps on TV. The biggest reason is because the people talking crap about Jeter are just haters --- specifically Yankee haters. Personally I hope it rubs them all the wrong way because neither he or A-Rod was on the list.
I always wonder what so many towns are doing for a village idiot when the haters are all in here.

Because they like me do not like the Yankees. However you have to recognize ballplayers and Jeter is a ballplayer, He just deserves people to respect him for the job he does on the field.
