I don't get. Why is this a big deal? I don't see the fans boycotting baseball or doing anything that proves that steroid use in baseball means anything to them. Why are steriods illegal? The players have a right to do what ever they want to their bodies, right?

This cannot be about making a statement about cheating. We are living in the times of the unbeaten "Patriots" so this cannot be about what messages the athelets are sending to our kids because now they know that cheaters do win.

Can someone explain why this is a big deal?

Gene you are absolutely right! And no I don't care what the players do to their bodies. I care about me and mine. Too much personal choice has been taken away from the individual. If an athelete does something then I am going to do the same thing? What a load of cr&p! And no I do not like Barry Bonds.

The way MLB has handled PEDs, does handle PEDs, and will handle PEDs, I don't care anymore. It doesn't make sense to care when you know players will continues, baseball will continue to do not much, and the final decision will be about what action can generate the most revenue. Let the fools take steroids and die for all I care. We'll never ever know. I'll just assume that either no one takes them or they all take them . . . I just don't care anymore. Just like no Santa -- no clean sport anymore.

Well I'm one of those sports fans that frankly doesnt care whether professional athletes use steroids or not. I dont see it as cheating, all players have reasonably the same opportunities to use em. Where's the unfair advantage?

Anyways, the only problem I have with steroids n such are the negative implications it may have to a person's body... for example: 'roid rage. It does exist! Using steroids has been proven to cause brain damage, serious depression, violent mood swings, etc. That's the only problem I have with the use of steroids; it tells kids that steroids is okay.

If a form of steroid-type drugs were created, where there were absolutely no negative implications to the user's body... then I would tell everyone to use it.

Some folks would rather "play fair" than play dirty...and taking steroids to chemically alter or enhance ones body and performance is cheating....pure and simple...the rules and regs of sports state "no steroids"...and no gambling, etc...play by the rules or don't play at all...some peoples bodies have violent reactions to steroids and cannot tolerate them...not everyone can take them (and live to tell the tale)...
there are RULES....and REASONS for them....
Would you feel the same if the athlete were taking smoking pot or smoking crack?...

look at the recent deaths in the WWE based on steroid use. They are becoming more dangerous and lead to brain damage and suicide. YES, it's a big deal.
